Yuletide ELVES? What the Heck?

Now these "Elves" and the Yuletide Event are still a Week Away,
but I have to Voice my Concerns

I always enjoy the Xmas Seasonal Stuff- The Decorations, the very nice "Silent Night" Song that plays and somehow always touches me, and the Decorative Present and Lights Displays during Missions actually Helps to further Light Up the Caves

But this Preview of the Yuletide Elves somewhat Concerns and Disturbs Me

1/2 of the DRG Lore is about us Dwarves HATING Elves, and the Term "Leaf-Lover" is a Huge Insult- So Having Yuletide, Elf-On-A-Shelf Things as an Object for a 2XP Reward seems Strange and somewhat Blasphemous

Now these DO APPEAR to be Yuletide/Xmas/North Pole/Santa Elves, NOT Taller, Tolkienesque/D&D/Fantasy/Eldar/Hated/Enemy Elves- More Like Gnomes or the "Bouncy Leprechaun/Dwarf" at the Bar (Who Bloody Thinks We Look Like This?) -
and I DO APPRECIATE the Devs giving us another 2XP Object/Reward Like the Bratwurst Mugs were- But having "Elves" of Any Kind being that Object still seems Strange- Having more Mugs of a Yuletide Theme seems more in-character thematically- Maybe Egg Nog or a "Yuletide Lager" would have been better
(By the Way, WILL WE be getting a Special Yuletide Brew?- I didn't see any info on that, I don't think we are)

Well, all Concerns and Biases Aside, Judging by the Preview, and the Discussions on Johnno's Post (which I Perused and was First before this one) - It DOES LOOK LIKE that at Least these Strange Elves Oddly MOVE and we have to Shoot and "Kill" them to get the Reward (Not sure if they are "Alive" or are a Wind-Up Type Toy Elf) - So it's Not All a "Pro-Elf, Leaf-Lover Event" - We Get to "Hunt" these Things Apparently




So it's all really a Minor Thing Overall to Me- But my Ingrained Built-Up Dwarven Pride after playing DRG for so many years WAS Immediately Triggered upon Reading and Seeing the Phrase "Yuletide Elves" - But Hunting and Shooting these Things Should Allieviate My Dislike and Boost My Anti-Elf Beliefs- and at Least these are better than Liking "Pet" Glyphids

What are some of the Rest of the Community feeling about these "Elves"?

I don't mind it. I find it mildly amusing, but Nothing else.
Honestly, I don't think much of it other than the sweet sweet double PP (performance points).

While I can understand what you mean, do keep in mind that the elves shipment was a decision who came straight from Management, not the Dwarves themselves, and Management has for long been implied to be, at least partially, comprised of elves.

Nothing too strange to me, personally.

shooting an elf dead and depositing it's corpse in a minecart doesn't exactly scream "elf love" to me
if anything it fits

personally I'm pretty excited for the event, I view holiday events in game as a way to have devs do something a bit more strange and get away with it since it's a temporary event

Christmas elves are different from your standard elf. They are materialistic, for one.

Dwarves aren't the only employees in DRG. Also theres no real evidence in the game that the dwarves "HATE" elves to the point of despising them and wanting to murder them on sight. That's just other players mistaking this game for Warhammer 40k or taking a joke too far. Racism from the miners in the form of childish nicknames has been as far as it ever goes IIRC.

Christmas elves need to get their materials for toys from somewhere, and with all the new children in the future, Santa gonna need a lot of toys made, I'm guessing Santa's workshop is a good income source for DRG.
