8) Nothing I did worked (tried different gaming PCs, laptops and various ISPs); nothing else is ever hogging my bandwidth
9) I have around 2.3k hours in this game, 90% of it being joining other people's games. Prior to S02 I had no issues whatsoever. After S02 I tried pretty much everything I could on my end but I'm still getting this issue every single day during a 2 hours session. Others in this thread have described this as a "lag spike" although it often ends with a disconnect message. Detailed explanation of issue from client's perspective below:
A moment when it appears as if I am not getting updates inside the match/game itself (bugs are walking in place, other team members are just walking on their last set direction/path until they hit an obstacle/wall, if I mine minerals they don't fall off and the mission timer is frozen at the moment when this started to happen). At best this moment lasts between 5 seconds, up to maybe 30 seconds (I've yet to actually measure accurately how long it takes) and then everything gets updated all of a sudden and I am able to continue playing the mission. At worst it lasts between 10 seconds to maybe 30-40 seconds but I eventually get a disconnect message; I then am able to re-join the mission from mission control (if the host is still there, no one joined to fill up all spots and whatever stage the mission is at and if it still allows it). I've noticed that with certain hosts this doesn't happen as often or not even at all. But with others it can happen around 5 times in a mission. It is frequent enough to happen to me every single day if I play for at least 1 hour - 1&1/2 hours. Other things I noticed though not sure how relevant: it often happens exactly when a swarm event begins or generally when bugs spawn but I can't be 100% if it's a coincidence or not.
A big thank you to everyone at GSG for making such an awesome game and for whatever it's worth, I am more than willing to install whatever tools needed to actually help debug this issue, provide logs etc. I play this game every day.
So.. For me:
*Does the issues happen both when you are client or also when you are hosting games?
This has happened consistently with myself as both client and host. The only difference is whether I bear the brunt of the lag and disconnects or whether it's whoever I'm playing with. And I should mention that nether myself, no any of the people I would consistently play with have ANY change in the quality of internet service since we started playing back before season 1.
*Are the issues consistent or only in some games?
The issue is consistent across every single mission and game in the game. And combined with the recent "cannot reconnect issue", it has made deep dives literally unplayable.
*Where in the world are you located?
I'm in North America, specifically the West Coast of the U.S.A. The people who I play with often are all over the States, from West Coast to East Coast. All of us have experience the exact same issues, and all of us never had any issues prior to Season 2.
*Specs for your PC
Custom Built for Gaming PC
Windows 10
Intel i5-96000k CPU with 3.70 GHz speed
16 GB of RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER GPU, updated to most recent stable drivers at all times.
*How is your internet connection?
High Speed Broadband from Comcast. I typically get under 20 ping in most games, and I did get about that much before Season 2. After Season 2 dropped though, it rocketed up over 100 ping.
*Are you using mods?
No, I do not use any mods and don't ever plan to.
*Are you using a vpn?
Nope, I am not using a VPN
*What steps, if any, have you taken in order to try and combat the issues?
I have switched my steam networking to "Always" as suggested on my support ticket. It has done literally nothing to improve my situation. I have also tried removing all other draws on my connection, no change there either.
*Anything that could be relevant (Other than "It started after Season 02"): When does it happens? Are there times where it is worse than others?
It seems to get worse if I'm playing with people who are farther away from me physically, but otherwise, it's a constant issue that plagues me even when playing with people close by.
losing Cargo Crates, Core Infusions and missing completing missions has become beyond infuriating
Or is that the case only upon mission failure?
I mean I have seen no correlative evidence in this thread yet. The devs probably need allot more responses; to nail something down.
We can't be sure in it since it start to happened from S02 launching
2. Consisten. Every time i play, there are lags.
3. Middle East.
4. Processor Intel(R) Xeon(R), CPU E5630 @ 2.53GHz, Video Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, Operating System Windows 10, RAM 16 GB. Reinstalled my windows 2 months ago, or somithing like that, just to clean and to "refresh" my pc, but DRG still lagging. (So don't do it, if you think "this should help", cause it won't...).
5. 190 mbps. My pc connected to the modem by wire. Talked to my provider several times, but he says my internet connection is ok. They advised to me to change my wire, which i connected to the modem, but it doesn't help.
6. No, i don't, but my teammates do. I played on servers with and without mods, and i had lags, it doesn't really matter, if there are mods or no, in me case. Also my teammates or random players played on my hosted server, and no matter, if they play with or without mods, they had lags.
7. No, i don't, but my teammates do. But i played on the servers without VPN, and i lagged anyway. And, yeah, my teammates and random palyers had lags, when i hosted, no matter if they play with or without VPN.
8. Well, when i host, and my teammate is lagging, he restarts the game. Usually it helps for next hour, or little more. If not, if he lags again after restart, then i restart my game. We doing same thing, if teammate hosting and i join. Sometimes it works, sometimes no. But, if i play with randoms, it will be luck, if from 10 servers, i'll find 1, where i will not lagging. Even when i join to someone close. And when i host to randoms, i see sometimes them all lagging and then kicked from the server because of "lost connection". I restart my game then too, and usually it works. And ping is ok all the time. All those lags looks like this: bugs moving on one place, teammates moving into the walls, minerals cannot be mined. I tried to change graphic quality, change directx, resolution, fullscreen mode or windowed, but it doesn't help all of these.
9. It happens absolutley randomly. It happens after 3 minutes of playing on the servers, or 1 hour. No matter, if we fighting swarm or just exploring. But last times, for some reason, it also could happen when i interact with something, like depositing to the mule, or building the pipe. Also it has randomly period of lag times. When it starts, lags may continue between 5 seconds, to 2 minutes. it can be short lags one by one, or one huge lag with "break" in 5 minutes, or more. Sometimes it ends with "lost connection to server". It's really big trouble to Deep Dives, because you can't join back to randoms.
Still waiting for your solution...
I've disconnected from some games after getting an item from a Cargo Crates and Lost Packs and still had them. That's intentional tho, maybe if it's from the internet going down or smth it's different
- My internet speed is 800 Mbps down & 800 Mbps up.
- I do not use VPN.
- I do not use mods.
- I've updated my gpu drivers
- I've restarted my OS. (Win 10)
- Network drivers are up-to-date.
- This happens in ~80% of the games I join. (I never host)
- The disconnects can happen any time while I'm connected to another's game. (Whether in the space rig, right after drop pod lands, or any time during the mission.
