Safe Mode added to the launch options
When you start up the game now, you will notice a new option: Safe Mode

Currently, this option adds the -disablemodding parameter to the launch commands, so you can easily start the game with modding disabled if you are experiencing issues that might be caused by the modding support integration.

Even though you are not using mods, we have experienced instances of crashed being solved by starting the game with this parameter. We are investigating these issues and hope to fix them soon.

Thanks for this. This option will launch the game for me, while the other options are not working atm.

Is this another casualty of the mediocre-at-best 3rd party modding platform that has infested this game and others in my library?

Please de-integrate it enough (I'd prefer a total removal option to be frank) so that it doesn't prevent the game from running altogether.

Thanks.

Prolly easier to just fix the issue wouldn't you think lol?

Well if it causes these crippling issues it is very vulnerable dont you think? I'd prefer devs find a way to not let this happen ever again that a third party software can affect our game. Even if it means doing what the guy mentioned you replied to.

Modding caused an issue where you have to disable mods, not exactly "crippling." (Which is only even partially true, I have plenty of mods installed; and my game works fine. So really, atm we don't 100% know what the cause is.)

If it were de-integrated the entire modding category system wouldn't work; mods would essentially be reverted to being "cheats" you manually install. So essentially, it would kill modding completely.

This is a one time issue, caused by outside factors (possibly Steam itself) that the dev's are already working on fixing; don't get your panties in a twist.

Seeing as this issue was initiated due to a steam update, i would concur with the latter statement that Chibbity made.

From what i saw when watching the logs, the issue appeared when libovrrt was called upon.
