Deep Rock Galactic
Best and Worst Biomes?
We've got plenty of new players around, what are your top 3 favorite biomes, and your top 3 least favorite biomes?

For me, it'd be:
Best-
1. Sandblasted Corridors. An odd choice maybe but it has Magnite and Pearls, thematically it looks like an area where Bugs would be present. Most importantly it has native 1 hit terrain destruction, which is just Awesome and really encourages you to carve your own path, highlighting some of the strengths of the game. The sandstorms are fine by me, they reduce visibility but "darkness" is one of the core pillars of the game, and honestly I kinda love fighting in them.
2. Magma Core. It just feels so cool and everything you achieve there with lava and fire around you feels way more epic. The way the terrain when destroyed leaves behind the trails of lava throughout is perfection, and the lighting throughout from fire everywhere gives it a very different feel than most other levels.
3. Hollow Bough. Everything about it feels hostile and alien. Plus some of the coolest cave formations I've found have been in there. Sometimes the best path is on or through the spiky vines, and the constant fear of getting stabbed keeps you on your toes and engaged. It's super unique and thus even though sometimes it makes me want to scream, it deserves a spot.

Worst-
1. Fungus Bogs. It's like Hollow Bough in terms of difficulty and frustrations, but does not at all redeem itself in the same way for me. It's just slimy and slow and annoying a lot of times. I'm sure someone has it as their favorite, but it's definitely not mine.
2. Glacial Strata. Sandstorms + Cold aren't ideal but I could live with them. it's the random cracks you fall into, which are just the worst. Tough to spot when not on the map and they can be deadly if you fall into them during a fight. It's difficult and dangerous in ways which are far less rewarding, for me, than Magma Core.
3. Dense Biozone. It's for a silly reason, but it's real. The shaggy red plant stuff on the red walls looks a Lot like Nitra at a glance in the dark at a distance, and as a result, the Actual Nitra seems Way harder to find in there than elsewhere (for me at least), which makes missions slower, more dangerous, and less fun.

Those are mine, what are yours?

Best: chernobyl

Worst: places with sand and snow storms. Standing around blind waiting for them to pass is not fun.

Top 3:

1. Azure Weald. This is by far the most visually stunning biome in the game, it feels right out of Avatar. There's so many unique flora and fauna, and most importantly they all have ping voicelines. The cave angels are a ton of fun to fly around with. This is the only biome in the game where sometiems I just stop for a second to admire the scenery and go "wow, this is beautiful." GSG really outdid themselves with this biome, it's a far cry above anything else in the game for me.

2. Hollow Bough. My 2nd favourite biome and it came in the same update as Azure Weald. 2 absolutely amazing biomes. I like how this biome feels, it's so unique and actually feels hostile. I like how the terrain has a wood texture to it, and all those moving vines everywhere are awesome. By far the most craziest cave generations I've seen are from this biome, like you said OP. Like I've seen caves so massive and high that as a scout I needed multiple grapples just to get up top. Plus, like Azure Weald, this biome has some awesome features like kickable tumble weed and those horrible corpse feeders.

3. Sandblasted Coridoors. I also love the 1 hit terrain destruction. I also like the style of this biome with its large open desert like areas with fossils and bee hives. This biome is just fun and cool.

Bottom 3:

1. Fungus Bogs. I like the look of this biome a lot, especially the thick foliage and all the hanging vines, it's one of my top biomes purely for visuals, but sadly it's the least enjoyable biome overall because of the annoying sticky goo everywhere that ruins the whole experience. And the fart mushrooms that are everywhere and drain your health, but there's way too many of them to bother trying to destroy them all frustrates me so much. This is a biome of pure annoyance despite its nice visuals unfortunately :(

2. Radioactive exclusion zone. Don't really like the radioactive crystals everywhere, and Praetorians death gas is replaced with radiation that I can't ignite :(

3. Crystalline Caverns. I don't dislike this biome, it just happens to be my 3rd least favourite. There's nothing that special about this biome, aside from the zappy crystals which are kinda cool. All the other biomes are more unique and memorable for me.

How dare you accuse me of being a Driller main! Lol.

for me best biome would probably be azure weald simply due to how pretty it looks, plus the cave angels, never really had much of an issue navigating it or finding morkite despite the same colored walls either

for worst it's easily hollow bough, it's obnoxiously vertical at times, cluttered with terrain blocking tunnels or making rooms cramped, thorns which constantly disrupt your shields, stabber vines which while admittedly easy to deal with are still an annoying hazard which taxes ammo at times

also the tumbleweeds which can kill you instantly if you step on them sometimes, never forget the tumbleweeds

dishonorable mention to me goes to sandblasted with it's RNG sandstorms causing slow and blindness, and the trawlers being very annoying

Azure Weald is absolutely beautiful, and I think the descriptor of "feels right out of Avatar" is an apt one. Very cool biome indeed!

It's neat too that while REZ is on your bottom 3, it's Wakipai's #1, just shows that it's definitely different strokes for different folks. Hopefully there are those out there who enjoy Glacial Strata or Fungus Bogs as well.

I do like Glacial Strata quite a bit :)

I don't have a last favorite zone. They all play very differently and have different sorts of traps. The sandy map is probably the most straightforward biome but I wouldn't call it plain.

Its constantly changing but if I had to choose my least favorite would more or less Ice Biome and my favorite would be Azure Biome most of the time.
Faves:

Salt Pits
Sandblasted Corridors
Crystalline Caverns

Not Faves:

I actually don't dislike any of the biomes, though I just wish there was more visual contrast in Azure Weald for Morkite, Aquarqs, and Dystrum, and more light in general in Hollow Bough.

top picks:
azure weld - natural illumination and lots of fun to just exist in
crystalline caverns - simple, straight-forward design with little deviations
Glacial strata - Because most bugs don't do DoT rather inflict a cold temp debuff.

bottom frags:
magma core - explosions of any kind leave patches of molten rock that accumulates after some time, making it quite difficult to navigate.
Fungus bogs - not even "Mushroom!" makes me appreciate sticky goo and how difficult it is to bypass.
Dense Biozone - im in a love/hate relationship that is leaning on hate atm because of this weird "ribbed" cave gen that only happens here.
