They are marked by a bright blue glow which can be seen coming from within the wall and are surrounded by small useless blue crystals.
Your point scanner tells you what resource is what.
Also command tells you what to look for and the purpose of the rig itself. He'll say something about big blue crystals that glow.
All it says is "ice" when I select those things. Also it's hard to hear mission control when you get a swarm 30 seconds in.
As for the minehead? It provides some defense for you to get a little footing when starting out. It also has a deposit area in the middle for resources since Molly isn't present.
Also I highly suggest you don't do a Point Extract mission on Glacial if this is your first time. The crystals have a tendency to blend in with the environment.
EDIT: Also keep a look out! If you can't find the last Aquarq sometimes they spawn on top of other aquarq deposits. Try checking for a glow near ones that you have already mined out.
-Rock and Stone
Now if you were complaining that you're 6/7 and can't find one more anywhere then it'd be more understandable, the last few can be hard to find.
AND, this mission teaches you about finding other rare materials in the walls of every other mission, like gold chunks, ERR cubes, Jadis, and Pearls.
No worries! More often than not those embedded materials get overlooked by new players. Best we can do is help them. Its quick advice and a quick fix!
-Rock and Stone
Same thing, colored flecks/chunks in the ground.
Gold for Gold.
Green for Jadiz.
White for Enor pearls.
Purple for Bittergem.
Crazy glowing spiky purple/white bits for Error cubes.
Did I miss any?
