its all mostly interpretive while feeling like it has established lore nothing canonically has been layed out for the player
The Space Rig continues to quietly churn out disposable workers in the far flung corner of the galaxy to gather minerals no one needs.
The bacon shuttle never arrives. When you die, you wake up in the medbay with no explanation. Egg missions are to gather raw materials for more clones. Wake up people!
I'm speculating this as well. It would make since due to, when you die, fail a mission, or get left behind, you always wake up in the medical bay. However, the "medical bay" doesn't look like a medical bay, but rather a cloning bay.
All that happens in the cloning process is your memories are kept in tack, to a degree, but you have little to no memory as to what really happened. Even though the motto of the Dwarves is "Leave no Dwarf Behind!", mission control always says to "put the mission first" in every scenario, but nothing is preached about this enough until you do escort duty and salvage missions.
For now my friend, you shall get this plastered into the answer box to show the importance of this post!
Spread the truth, fellow Dwarf!
you believe in cloning and memory transfer to a new clone body but not a team of medical dwarves or robots to retrieve a team of downed dwarves or with all the other insane technology you dont think they could teleport back to the rig if they are about to die
or the memorial hall to even exist if when you die for real you come back as a clone.
complete death is impossible, so the collapse of the entire space dwarf federation is literally impossible if some backwater station even has the technology to rebirth you
Karl is also best kept as a mysterious figure, kind of like a mix between Jesus and John Henry from American folklore.
I guess the DRG dwarves have a kind of religion, considering the driller exclaims "Unkar's balls, this is heavy!" at one point. Also needs no elaboration.
Clones don't have rights, cloning is basically illegal. It's not something that's done in polite Dwarven society. It's taboo. The Dwarves who benefited from the minerals clones send back likely had no idea that the workers who mined them were clones being taken advantage of by the corporation.
Nor do the workers themselves realize they are clones. Nor is cloning or being a clone desirable, as clones have significantly shorter lifespans; and are considered expendable.
You sound suspiciously like a company exec trying to tow the corporate line, or at least; that's what I would say if there were any execs left alive.
yeah exactly. the more you elaborate on clones, the worse the theory sounds.
You're in denial brother! Wake up, you're just a disposable clone!
Has Deep Rock Galactic become the Wake Up Creepypasta?
*points weapon on you* Always has been…
But, that's just speculative. So far most of DRG's universe has been kept implied with no full blown exposition and I think it's worked so far.
The error cubes are probably some complex galactic puzzle that leads towards something; perhaps the truth of what happened to Hoxxes IV, the truth about DRG being a corrupt company, the truth about who Karl is or if he even existed, who knows.
