If you pay attention to your ammo clip count whenever you reload, you'll see it finishes "reloading" before your animation is finished. I use this ability in desperate reload moments when enemies are in my face, which actually speeds up your reload time if you use it while reloading (before your animation stops)
so, reduced cooldown = more dps AND survivability....which other perk will give you that?...none.
- The CD reduction is not low enough to help you with mining, you'll finish mining before the CD comes off. So there's no point and if you pretend to "spam it" on waves you have a deathwish.
- AoE. Only worth for mining (better than CD) but not by much, once again, not needed.
- Damage. It actually gets stuff killed, hits hard praetorians, makes destroying nexus / hives easier, less ammo needed for trivial stuff, can still mine.
Scout I either take extra radius because he lacks AoE or take fast cooldown if I'm building for full mining speed.
Engineer either radius or power attack depending if I'm taking GL or BC.
Gunner I mostly take extra radius unless I'm using the AC built with increased splash radius. Then I take double damage.
Didn't know it worked on mining to begin with. Might change it to AOE.
But does the damage buff also apply to mining?
If you use it on a "fresh" block (i.e. a block that hasn't beet hit yet) it'll more than likely break that block in a slightly larger radius than normal.
It's definitely worth it as a scout
You can often grapple up above the minerals and power attack to make a ledge for yourself to stand on and get straight to mining. Reduced cooldown usually lets you do that without having to wait for recharges at all between mineral patches.
It lets you use it regularly in combat to save ammo on trash. Very handy for M1k+SG build to save ammo on lone targets.
Also often lets you pop consecutive loot bugs quicker while you're travelling, which you dont really want to waste ammo on as a scout. Not a big benefit but still a benefit none the less.
Speed for Scout though certainly.
I run damage on Gunner and AOE on Driller/Engi.
On bright side I've gotten really good at reaching ridiculous locations and angles, but if the power axe works I'll be even faster
