@OP you can just host your own games and kick cheaters you don't have to bury your head in the sand.

might be your region or maybe you just meet the same guy over and over

500+ hours, joined into 2 modded games unintentionally.
I encountered two in the first year of the game, but none since, and I often jump in or open public games, granted not nearly as many hours clocked up as others here who also say it is not as bad as you make it out to be.
