The neat thing is, you really only take that long once, then you try to rush through it every time
Okay ? But that has nothing to do with the topic.
I mean, you're always in a race against time, because bugs are infinite and Nitra isn't; but in PE it's specifically part of the mode.
use bosco and you'll breeze through missions.
Wait he was in 1 mission for 1 hour? Bruh. Lower your difficulty setting.
Fortunately, it can be quite easier running Solo than with a "newish" team, thanks to Bosco. Bosco can be instructed to dig out Aquarqs. (The big blue crystals), that still leaves you needing to locate them all. But you can do that to extract the ones you can easily reach while also looking for secondary objectives and Nitra. (which is really important)
Some general tips for running Point Extraction:
- For Solo runs I recommend using Driller or Scout. The key will be fast mobility around the vertical nature of the map.
- For team games any class will do, but if you're going to double-up, Driller or Gunner would be the preferred classes.
- Work from Outside-in. This means head off to the outer reaches of the cave system gathering secondaries, nitra, and finding the hidden Aquarqs and toss them towards the minehead. Save the close, easy ones for last.
- When solo, use Bosco to dig Aquarqs that are out of reach or he can dig while you are gathering other stuff. Toss the aquarq back towards the mine head.
- Bosco can carry Aquarqs for you. In situations where the minehead is considerably higher than areas containing multiple crystals, pool them up somewhere with line of sight to the minehead, then standing from up there, direct Bosco to fetch a crystal and toss it to you.
- Be prepared to sacrifice certain secondaries to complete the mission. Fossils and Dystrium can be very difficult to locate and collect on some maps like Glacial and Azure. Gunk Seeds more than double-up the number of heavy objects you have to locate and toss back / carry to the mine head.
When running as part of a team it is important that the right people prioritize / know about the more difficult to reach aquarqs. If you are an Engineer and there is a scout you want to have a platform near the crystal. As a gunner you can put a zipline up to get to it or near enough where you can pickaxe into the wall to get a safe footing. (risky) A driller can use a waypoint to drill up the walls and even into the ceiling area. A scout without an engineer is about only useful for locating stuff and fetching secondaries. With experience/practice and equipment a scout can access otherwise inaccessible locations, but it's certainly not advisable until you're really good and timing your flying power-hits.
- Getting crystals out of of the ceiling for driller I recommend using waypoints to get you there, then using C4 to break the crystal free to fall to the floor. (faster than carrying it back down the tunnel and safer/faster than trying to break a hole to toss it down.)
It's important to make note of the way the cave is laid out and how to get to the various areas. Driller helps a LOT here as you can dig direct tunnels back to the mine head which can save a TON of time even with Bosco. It is also important to know because at the end when a drop pod is called it can come down in adjacent rooms which may not have a direct route. Knowing how to get everywhere in the map and having routes prepared from the minehead will save you scrambling to try and reach the extraction while facing continuous bug spawns. Again, Driller is a huge time saver here.
Based on my experience, you *have* to use bosco or you *will* run out of time.
edit: Because I didn't even know bosco would dig those crystals out...
