Haunted Caves
So I finally tried a Haunted cave again after several updates, hoping it had gotten better. Spoiler, it didn't.

Personally, I refuse to play this modifier ever again because, while I can handle several bulks on their own, one with God Mode is just taking a piss. God Mode should be reserved for players in games like DOOM, not enemies in PVE games. It's not fun nor is it fair and leaves me feeling like "why do I even bother trying this BS." IMO, this modifier needs to be replaced with something like a Bulk infestation or at least give us some way to disable the damned thing (or kill it and have it respawn after a set time) or somehow setup distractions using objects strewn through out the caves...similar to the core infusers, have things that make noise/light/motion that can occupy the horror or at the very least drive it off for a while. Stepping out of the drop pod and being instantly killed by the horror is BS and really kills any desire I have to play the game. I guess I could always give myself god mode but I'd really rather not cheat this game because there really isn't anything to be gained from spending the time to write the trainer to get around one badly implemented feature that's not mandatory for playing. I'd rather see it properly balanced and become something fun. Right now, it's just like drinking bong water.

in a group its not hard, solo eh maybe challenging depending on the skill level. if you are one of those omg is it safe to take another step players, yeah ghost is gonna bone you. gotta haul ass cant sit around smelling roses

if you cant handle it thats fine just ignore it, if you have a promo mission that requires it just wait till the map rolls over and missions refresh fairly easy to ignore the modifier

Weirdly enough I agree and disagree.

I agree that at it's worst it is boring and annoying. The bulk ghost is not really fast so you spend a lot of time waiting for it to get to you, you also spend a lot of time waiting for it to piss off so you can get to the objective.

But at the same time. Having a bulk constantly digging after you and making massive passages through the level, baiting its stomp to kill surrounding enemies. I know you can do that with regular bulks, but those don't always show up.

I guess I LIKE the concept but not the execution. It is the definition of spanner in the work since an invincible super monster makes A LOT of tactics dangerous, but having some way to slow it down or temporarily disable it would not be terrible.

Also just to double down.
Solo isn't the best balanced part, the intended form is with a group.

Afaik all slowing cc (not freezing, but its slow) work on the bulk.
So all but gunner can slow it w.o. OC's.

This was my immediate thought, as well.

Playing solo, the ghost can be a nuisance that sucks the fun out of the mission.
Playing with 2 players, it's can still be quite bothersome.
Playing with 3-4, I think the modifier can be kind of fun.

Just avoid Haunted Cave in solo games.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe the Haunted modifier is even available for Salvage missions simply because it'd be nigh on impossible in Solo despite being manageable in a group.

I can't say I've ever seen it before anyways. Anyone?

The only time the ghost has posed an actual challenge, rather than an annoyance, for me is when I did a haunted cave mission solo as gunner.

Solo or not, it's a test on your ability to multi-task. You dislike it as you simply see it as a hindrance, not a challenge that can be overcame systematically.

An experienced player should be able to keep working on the objective while chased by the ghost, without turning around too much. This can be achieved by being aware of the distance between you and the ghost all the time, and estimate the amount of time you can stay and work.

Laser point the ghost, plan your routes in and out (especially dead ends and corners), listen to its sound with good headphones, pay attention to the shiny particles around it (aka the attack range), and apply CC when needed. That's pretty much everything you have to do.

In solo, any haunted mission would be self-torture without bosco. Focus on surviving and ask bosco to finish the objectives.

I personally find solo haunted / low O2 a little pointless and boring, due to the lack of teammates and the randomness they could have brought. They are modifiers designed to challenge a team by asking them to work while partly splitting / sticking together closely.

I think it's mostly fine. Except bullets can't go through it. I mean if im able to see through it, i should be able to shoot through it too right?

You know what the real horror is? An actual detonator right behind the ghost detonator, being shielded by it, chasing you to a dead end.

10ish hours in played 1 ghost mode solo - made it - its somehow boring luring the thing away and than run and do what u wanna do - so jea its doable solo but it sucks

the best way to beat it is multiplayer and have the players split up when possible. it makes it so the bulk will switch targets before it reaches you typically.

I'm not a fan of it either. It's the modifier that I like the least. It's doable, but just not fun at all.

A few suggestions that I have thought for improving on it are:
  • Change it entirely and make it so instead of the invincible enemy, you instead suffer occasional hallucinations, like when drinking the Blacklock Lager
  • Make it so the enemy can be damaged, just not permanently killed - emptying its health bar either leaves it stunned temporarily (20s or so?) or it defeats them temporarily, but they show up again later

It´s bothersome ghost. While it can be thrilling for someone, it´s good modifier.
Personally, I don´t seek it out and rather avoid id.
