So are Engineer's minishells still any good?
People been saying that the removal of stun is a hefty price, but what do you guys think?

It's still good.

No, because :

- stun removal AND less damage is a big deal
- base stats got buffed a bit

Best build I could find https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2036087962

It was never good to begin with. Go with Cycle Overload and embrace the carnage that you will sow.

Despite what people will say. Yes, Minishell shotgun is good. The benefits out weigh the negatives if you don't play around stun and it provides so much lifetime damage, it's very rare you ever run out of ammo with it. In every missions you will always have a primary ready thanks to all the extra ammo.

i still constantly run mini shells, dosen't feel any different and the insane ammo increase is well worth it
if you need a little bit of stunning power i feel the sentry gun can cover that well enough if you just stay on top of your game and focus on headshots for grunts

I agree with Darius. I tried Mini Shells a couple of times and didn't like it at all. What's the point of all the extra ammo if weapon feels weak. Instead I run my Warthog with Magnet Pellet Alignment. Accurate as hell and 1shots Grunts to the face.

it's always been far too good, the absurd increase in ammo and mag size made it nigh impenetrable and really good on haz5, its so outrageously powerful with miner adjustments too. you can just keep on shooting and shooting and the tiny decrease in damage was cancelled out by the gigantic mags, resulting in significantly more lifetime damage than the base level (ironically enough

honestly i doubt this is enough of a nerf - not saying that i do want it to be nerfed obviously but lowering the ammo increase to something like +50 instead of +90 would be acceptable

If they nerf it any more it will be useless

Especially on higher difficulty

Its basically a +25% damage upgrade with better accuracy and the ammo/fire rate make it fun.
So yeah according to a lot of the community thats "useless" =/

Literally unplayable

The stun would mess up my shots more often than it would help, mostly on Praetoreans.
I picked it as the best shotgun upgrade because ~200x60 beats 90x80, but with the rebalanced perk positions looks like it got a heavy nerf.
Plus, even with 8x10 damage, it can still be difficult to 1shot grunts, so I opt for more ammo instead since lower damage can still potentially 1shot them.

most people dont bother to look past the damage penalty and disregard everything else a gun has to offer
thats the only reason why something like elephant rounds for the bulldog is a popular overclock, even though its actually complete garbage

ironically, theres not a single build for the warthog that can outmatch the lifetime damage put out by even a no modifications build with mini shells only. not even choosing all the damage mods and cycle overload can outclass mini shells

thats why i recommend using the karl loadout builder[surmiran.github.io], particularly when it comes to working out the dps and total lifetime damage done by a weapon build. its just been updated for u29 as well, which is nice

Stun is useful on some guns but I don't find it that important on shotgun. Against small enemies I don't really care since shotgun kills them pretty quickly with weakspot hits anyway. Against big enemies I'm probably just going to BC them. So losing stun doesn't really matter to me, but the nice bonuses to ammo/recoil/magsize sure do. Losing damage sucks but it can be made up for by taking the extra pellets upgrade instead of the ammo one so no problem there either.

Just out of curiosity.
How do you mod your bulldog with and w.o. elephant?

Dmg potential is one thing, beeing able to put most of it to use is also pretty important and with hard hitters (bulldog and shotty) you quickly lose a large part to overkills.

Elephant rounds complete garbage ? Even when not taking full damage build, you still get 130 damage. A couple of shots and you can finish off most large targets with minigun. I'm honestly surprised dev's still haven't nerfed it.
