Beer thread [warning beer spoiler incoming]
So lets discuss what all the beers do. So instead of wasting money to see what they do, we share what we have.

I will go first
Wormhole beer teleports you to random spots, it's my favorite one so far
blackout beer is awful and just makes you pass out, not worth the purchase or time even
Flintlock beer makes you explode and jump around, its pretty fun too but kinda expensive

Implying Blackout Stout isn't worthwhile? That's the only way a true dwarf 'sobers up' before the mission!

Wait, you're not supposed to jump through the Barrel Hoop?

Laughs in blackout stout before entering the drop pod
(only works for single player, other players in a multiplayer lobby don't seem to get the effects on a mission)

Arkenstout freezes you instantly. Blacklock lager makes the screen go dark for a while, and the underhill deluxe ironically makes you small.

*Gunner quaffs Mactera brews as the drop pod door closes*

"Oy, scout. Pull my finger."(it makes you fart and has flies follow you).

The entire beer system is a massive disappointment to me.

Like a lot of recent additions to DRG, it's mainly cosmetics and for laughs and has no effect once in-game. Development time could have been spent far better, such as on the addition of boss battles/alternative dreadnought subtypes.

Normally I would agree.

But this is a dwarf game, getting drunk is mandatory. What I would do is make the gag beers have a smaller and weaker effect than the special of the day.

Like, 10 extra health, 5% speed increase, 10% passive stun chance(all weapons). Stuff like that. Then you can stack a special of the day with a lesser brew to boost yourself. Plus you would have a reason to drink them other than just for the laughs.

Oh and passing out and or drinking leaf lover gets rid of the bonuses(you have to balance your booze intake to get benefits WITHOUT being too drunk to operate).

I LIKE the system, but it could be better.

Only true dwarfs start a mission only one oily oaf away from passing out!

God forbid anything is just for fun, and doesn't stimulate any skinner box progression dopamine drips for you.

I try to combine beers by ordering a 2nd round before I drink the first.

Barking up the wrong tree here, my dwarf brother. In fact, you will note that I criticise the devs for adding collectible cosmetics and other busywork having no effect on actual gameplay over actually working to enhance said gameplay.

The beers are fun.

Once. After that, I've pretty much ignored them as they provide nothing substantial to the game.

I agree with Twinkletoes. At its heart, collecting stuff for beers is a decent mechanic, but they should have some kind of in-game effect instead. Perhaps even give you penalties, adding some %s to the bonus multiplier at the end, being a way for you to tailor your DRG experience to your tastes.

As it is, I am deeply unimpressed, although they ARE admittedly amusing. Once.
