The hardest part so far, for me
The hardest part for me is in the couryard of 'Home » Walkthroughs » Half-Life: Alyx Walkthrough

' Chapter 6: Arms Race '

Alyx makes her way through a giant, broken down hotel to begin destroying the cables that are keeping the vault suspended in the sky.

======================

I watched videos, guides, walkthroughs, and am still struggling. I am not trying to make excuses, but my health is bad, and struggle moving fast, using weapons, and now trying to climb up this one ladder in, in this courtyard... is a real pia for me. I get nailed and killed while the game doesn't let me move fast enough, on top of my bungling hands. Often it stops me from moving in some places... I have really good vr test scores... decent,, I fly combat sims moslty, but do like some other shooters, and sims... but soemthime, it makes me wait while I try to move waring precious seconds. I am finally making headway, but need ot get up thois damned ladder to shoot acouple of bad guys before I can go move the switches to raise the platforms, and climb back up again after it is in postion to jump on and over to the next building.

In some other previous sections of the sim I thought I was not going to be able to continue, but this is the worst/hardest/ or maybe some of you cal it the best.. I know this sim/game, whatever has been around a couple of years, but I started it a few months ago. I had a two month break because I had to wait for Oculus to replace something.

I wonder if I need more light in the room I play, I have plenty of lights ZI tught, with windows, lights, etc.. but maybe it really loves lights more than I do.. or maybe it is bottlenecked and I need to dumb it down, but up to this point, it was al fine. I have the VRmark to test, and other tests, and I get pretty decent scores. And many others played this through, so it has to be me, the lighting, or? that makes it stumble onc eina while, like when I went to grab some ammo off of a dead soldier I ikilled, it mad eme wait and click like mad wasting precious seconds as the bad guys were coming to kil me, while I tried duriously trying to get to this body, 10 feet away and grab that yummy ammo, before I could run to the ladder in the huge courtyard with so many bad guy coming though the beaming in light screen and launching those bastage deadly drones draining my ammo like mad. Anyways, it seems everytime I see progresss oemthing screws me over.

Last note. I ma eagerly awaiting Stalker2 ! I really likes the forst three Stalkers versions. And hope they get the VR version out when it gets released.

If you're hankering for a S.T.A.L.K.E.R.-esque VR title, Into the Radius is extremely similar and is really fun.

You are rambling like crazy. If you stopped to think about how to concisely word your post, you probably could have done it in 1/3 the amount of words and made 3 times more sense.

You're talking about gameplay issues and then asking about tracking. Are you having problems with the actual gameplay or the tracking? More importantly, you didn't mention any details about your setup or settings.

If you're playing with teleport, it pauses briefly during movement sometimes to simulate Alyx walking. As for tracking, if you use a headset with inside-out tracking, the room needs to be well-lit but it doesn't need to be any better lit than a room typically is. If you have Lighthouse tracking, you can use it in a pitch black room without issues.

AKA_Ramstein, have you considered dropping the difficulty? Even if just for some of the sequences where your rig/setup (or whatever) is glitching?

Not totally sure if you're saying you're having issues because of hardware tracking or because you're just finding the game hard / too intense in that firefight?

By the way, if you're having trouble climbing ladders quick enough in Alyx then actually all you need to do is grab the ladder then let you - you automatically get taken straight to the top without needing to physically climb.
It's a feature that allows players playing with only one controller to still be able to climb, or those that aren't as physically able.

If you're just finding the fight too hard, I'd suggest as others, dropping the difficulty.

Not sure if you refunded the game or something though as you're not showing as owning it (the little mouse icon next to your name)

I'm not sure what section you are talking about specifically, but are you saying you struggle with enemies at the top of a ladder?
Are you not able to take them out from the ground first?

If you do have trouble shooting, as others suggest, lower the difficulty. This game is much more forgiving that way and is likely to give you time to react. Also as necrophonic said, simply hold the bottom rung and you can teleport to the top, or if that fails due to it choosing when, turn to teleport and aim at the ladder. That also teleports you up it more instantly. May give you more preparation time as you don't have to think about climbing.

I find when interacting (though not certain), you also seem to take either less damage or there is a slight grace period. Same as shots from behind. So try not to panic and take your time with aiming, those hits may not be hitting as hard as they seem. Hopefully you will get through this section you are having trouble with.

Good luck!
