Shoot it until it dies.

This. They are bullet sponges on all difficulties and will take an entire mag (or two, I have the bullet reservoir by that point) hitting every shot to go down.
If you miss at all, you need to shoot more of course.

feed it lead. it'll be a good boy then.

Ok - so there's no trick here. They use up too much lead (and the zombie ones are wrose). Just need to find more ammo...

If you can kill it before it enters a body, it will help a LOT.

Seems they get full health if they get into a body. Also, if they are inside a body, dont just blast away. Its ONLY vulnerable at the places where you can see it grow a blue ball on the body, and its not even there at all times. When it has this blue ball (or orange if you got the special sight on your weapon), then shoot that point. All other shots wont do anything.

In some places, you might be facing a bunch of zombies and then these lighting dogs... when that is the case you will be better off by not killing the zombies, so the lightning dog wont get any bodies they can use.

If it's the first lightning dog, backtrack and get some Xen grenades. You'll have an unlimited supply and don't have to use any of your own ammo.

save up shotgun shells for it. i managed to point-blank it with about 5 and get it. they're annoyingly bullet-spongey, but high power stuff works.

Figured out a trick, it takes and patience though.
In the room with the second lightning dog where he jumps into all the corpses (this is after he jumps into the first corpse behind the fence), I loaded an earlier save and painstakingly dragged all the corpses across the room into the elevator well and dumped them in a pile and covered them with barrels so they were inaccessible and then the battle was as easy as the first electric dog.
dodge lightning and shoot them until they die

♥♥♥♥ I just got to the room with 2 Lightning Dogs and that was a slog. Took a dozen tries and all the grenades and syringes I'd been saving in my bucket. Used up all of my SMG ammo, most of my shotgun shells.

You need to shoot better then :steammocking:

in the room with the 2 LD's don't panic. Just keep moving, dodging the lightening squirts, and stay close to them. Dispatch the zombies only if you have to. Shoot only the blue balls on the zombies. After 3-4 major lightening blasts by the LD-infested zombies get your shotgun ready. The LD-infested zombie will begin to collapse and cough out the LD. This is your moment. Stay close - it can't hurt you now. The LD will be weak and 2 shotgun blasts will really slow it down - a couple more shots will have it crawling and whimpering - then kill it dead!

HA!!! MAJOR DISCOVERY! Electricity only travels along the floor... go into the big central room with the table, jump on the table and then take your time polishing off anything that comes towards you completely impervious to the lightning strikes... the lightning dog will of course inhabit any zombies you have killed, but will then stand there throwing electricity in pretty random directions giving you plenty of time to shoot the blue area on the zombie, and then as often as not, time to unload a barrage into the dog as it emerges from the disabled zombie. Zero health points lost, zero problems and having spent forever running, dodging and trying to get through this damn level, a massive relief!

Thanks, dude, this was of great help. I was beginning to be desperate, terribly difficult (and scary) situation. First time I had to search for hints.
