How do I fill up a clip in the pistol?
Many times I am about to enter a combat area with only four or five bullets in the pistol. I don't want to reload halfway through the fight, but I don't want to drop a half-full clip on the ground that I have to remember to come back for later and the backpack won't accept half full clips.

I understand the immersive factor of the gun reloads, and that's all fine, but it also breaks immersion that I cannot fill a clip while I am out of combat.

Maybe the expanded capacity upgrade will help?

And you don't. It's risk/reward. If you risk running out of ammo at a crucial time you're rewarded by not throwing away ammo.

The reservoir upgrade is amazing, though. I actually skipped the previous upgrades since they didn't seem important and got the reservoir first. No regrets.

Bullet Reserve is OP. You don't refill a clip itself, and it wasn't very immersion-breaking for me, either. Just deal with it, I guess.

Without any spoilers yeah go for the upgrade and it fix your half empty magazine problem

This is how real weapons work. but I do think it would have been nice to be able to pick up half empty mags and put them back in your inventory into your overall ammo pool.

That's all I'm saying. Real weapons allow you to also sit down with two magazines and load the bullets from one to the other.

Yes, magazine. Thank you. I should have looked that up before now.

You're correct, but nobody wants to fumble with individual bullets being placed into a magazine while fighting. Valve honestly made magazine and weapon use more realistic in that regard. As for doing so outside of combat, I'm not sure, they probably made a decision that most people would not enjoy having to stop what they're doing just so they can pull out cartridges from magazines to preserve ammunition.

Well, I think a nice compromise would have been to merge all magazines that go into the backpack. The last one you pull out will be partial.

I have objections to your statement.

Those are both highly simulatory games. Half-Life is not.

Until getting the magazine upgrade, I just held a clip in my spare hand. Counted the shots down, til just 1 bullet left in barrel. Quick drop mag and slip next in. So long as don't fire last shot don't have to ♥♥♥♥ the gun.
