dude are you a troll?
nice, you shoud be proud of yourself
in reality because of valves flat structure, the best way to get half life 3 is actually to be positive and encouraging, not complain.
the only way half life 3 happens is if enough people at valves have high morale and get excited about creating it.
I'm complaining because I'm mad they've ignored the ending and now they have the guts to return to the series and not even address said ending.
Yeah you sound like someone who needs to post dumb things on a game forum to feel better about yourself
HL:A may actually expand on the ending of ep2.
valve has recommended that you play episode 2 before HL:A and there is reason to believe there is some kind of connection.
this is being sold as a prequel, but there is reason to believe that it actually is much more involved in the continuation than we would expect.
Like I'm introducing a friend to Half-Life right now, we've been playing in coop on and off.
We're at Nova Prospekt right now.
We took a pause to play Portal 2 coop and I've recommended that he play through Portal 1&2 campaigns.
Then we'll get to the ending of HL2 and play EP1. Then EP2. And then what? Yep.
i agree, and i think valve agrees too, which is probably part of why this is half lif: alyx, not half life 3.
doing a VR only non HL3 let them have more creative freedom.
and because it has been 12 years since the last half life, it also allows them to build a new team of people who are familiar with the IP, have learned how it will work in todays tech, and have the creative pipline primed to create content in this engine and this game world.
nope, this is not a spin-off, Half-Life: Alyx is a full standalone game in the series
Blue Shift was an expansion for Half-Life
All mainline HL games, the numbered ones, are about Gordon Freeman.
They make the next big Half-Life game and don't number it.
I think they know exactly what they're doing and I hope it means that they at least haven't scratched the idea of a third mainline installment which may eventually come.
Sometime.
Maybe...
Please, Gaben?
yeah it's been a long time since the release of Half-Life 2 Episode 2 enough is enough people want some damn closure already! cliffhangers are the effing worst.
Alyx is still a mainline game. The only reason it has no number attached to the name is that Valve wants Half-Life 3 to be a different game and that HL0 or HL 1,5 just sounds stupid.
and for most of that time they've been building a new engine that is finally seriously rolling out with HL:A.
