the picture of the Japanese card named "home defence" was drawn for the 3th anniversary of the July 7 Incident of 1937(also called The Lugouqiao Incident) happened in China. That was a sudden attack from Japan, just like the Attack on Pearl Harbor. So, using this picture with the name "home defence" hurts the feelings of Chinese people. We know that it is just a mistake for you to use the wrong picture, but we argue that you should change the picture.

To be honest, although there are many card games on the market, I'm afraid that the theme of World War II is only a handful. And in this, more excellent and can have a more stable number of players, I am afraid that only KARDS.

Both interesting mechanisms and considerable gameplay, but also the history have enough research and description, for players who love the World War II theme of the game is certainly not to be missed. The front-line mechanism and the card action point sets are the biggest differences from other card games, which also make players need to consider more factors, and the atmosphere of the game is quite good.

The balance also has a lot of old players criticism of the place, at the same time, the game's novice period is too long, high rarity cards are also very difficult to obtain, and players who refuse In-App Purchases have difficulty in quickly gaining enough enjoyment of the game.

Overall, KARDS as a card game has enough features and charm to attract players to try it. It is recommended for players who love card games and World War II themes, and they can decide whether to play it for a long time after trying it.

I had to write a review to justify losing ~4k+ hours of my adult life to this game.
Play Kards if you love:
1) A CCG that is based on WW2 and inspired by a simple yet elegant game mechanic, detailed unit and hardware lore and authentic period propaganda poster art. This game has all that in abundance.
2) A real challenging yet balanced game with unique perspective of struggle where the interaction of cards mechanics and positional nuance determines the outcome of a battle.
3) A CCG that rewards new players with a plethora of in game Achievements and Daily rewards that allow you to obtain Gold to buy card and campaign packs, Resources to craft new cards and random cards to supplement the ones that come with the Starter decks.
4) Multiple game formats; daily PvP Battles, Training vs AI, Draft and Tournaments. There’s also a Ladder progression which is quite competitive with monthly winners qualifying for shot at the ultimate prize of World champ.
All in all it’s been a long but worthwhile journey. The game is not without its flaws and finding the right balance is difficult after new cards are released but the Devs are active and player complaints are ultimately addressed.

The Deckbuilding is fun and the cards are various and in high numbers. The fights have the element of surprise but beware the more you play and the farther you progress, you will face people in your rank that have very powerful builds, to the point that if you haven't paid for better cards, you are at a big disadvantage and will most likely lose. in a nutshell the more you progress, the more Pay2Win the game becomes. If you are not a fan of such mechanics, then stay away from this game.

Game was pretty good when it started but there's a subtle power creep with paying for the newer card packs to RNG good cards.
Struggling to make it out of cadet and ensign ranks because i simply cant compete against soviet beans decks and decks that take advantage of just paying to spam good cards. At cadet rank there should be people with basic cards not this spamfest, its way too difficult to get out of low elo without paying for card packs to try to RNG meta cards to bolster the deck out. Used to play this game ages ago but because i never played often and don't have cards from all the other updates and stuff i just don't hold anything decent and cant get anything decent either. Takes ages to get cards i need from packs just makes the game unsatisfying to play and frustrating to lose to a cadet with several strong elite cards that i cant match up to. Packs are way too expensive as they are its not particularly fair.
was looking forward to the mobile version but 'im not sure it will be any different.

Finally giving up on this game. I managed to climb up the ladder collect the cards I wanted and played countless games with decent success eventually made it to the top 50 all without paying a dime. I didn't use a meta trick deck, I created my own deck and used strategy based on my own experiences to determine how to counter others. With every addition of new cards, I started to lose more. The first major setback was when they introduced the resistance cards. I mainly played Japanese-German and I was just getting destroyed by the French decks especially the cancerous and flat out unfair card "Liberation". What's the solution to this? "Forced Retreat" but you have to pay 100 gold or real money to get the campaign and you only get ONE. What happens when you discard your hand to get rid of the resistance cards that cost 1 apiece to get out of your hand and discard to top card of your deck as well? BOOM a second liberation, then the cards you would normally be drawing are being discarded now too. There is no strategy to this game anymore. Simply go to youtube or another website, look at a deck with a high win rate and literally just throw them on the board and win. Kamikaze Decks, Resistance Decks, 4/6 0 move 0 attack tanks in the first turn. Its all a big trick now. I'm done with this

I personally like the game so far, but I can't recommend it at the current state.

The early game is fun and addictive to both ww2-theme fans and CCG fans. But if you are expecting a fair game environment and balanced gameplay late game then this is not the game for you.

The matchmaking system is broken once you pass a point that the game no longer considering you as a newbie, you will run into tons of player who using meta-deck to destroy you multiple times even you just have low game time and still using the default deck due to you are not able to get useable cards from opening packs.

Even if you grind the way through and finally complete your own useable deck, you will find out that the game has some broken deck(in my point of view) still ruining your game experience and extremely unfun to play against;

For example, I run into lots of players who using discard deck, the 'tactic' it offers is to pay a low cost then turn one of your hand or unit card back to your deck's top, or simply makes you unable to draw from next turn so your hands will empty very soon. The most ridiculous thing is that the cards that hold the discard effect also allow them to draw a card or is a strong unit itself.

So I asked from the steam forum about how to counter, some nice guy answered, and I craft all the cards I need(which costly to me) but still not able to do much except that I can hold two cards in hand while the one with discard deck holds 5 and have totally field control.

Finally, I have enough, so I salvage all my gold cards and craft a cheap discard deck myself, it is boring to play because basically your opponents will not have much to do when they are empty, so far no one seems can counter me while my hand wasn't too suck. The cheap version is clearly not as efficient as the meta one which includes multiple elite cards but is enough to destroy tons of people, so when I want to farm some win or gold, I reluctantly run it.

And lastly about people rant about p2w, It is not the biggest problem here in my opinion. But to those people playing(probably grinding) for 100 hours or the new player claims this game is not p2w... Nah, it definitely is without a doubt, CCG always is p2w, it is how it works.

The first 10-20 hours was pretty fun. Enough rewards to feel like you're making good progress at the same time as you got matched with players on your own level. After that... well... You will meet the same decks over and over again, and unless you are willing to fall in line you will be punished.

You have to options when it comes to "falling in line":

A) Spend a lot of money.

B) Spend a lot of time grinding and having no fun while doing it.

I want to preface this by saying that I am not a regular card game player. But being a fan of WW2 history I figured this would be a fun game to try out the genre. At time of writing I have 83 hours in the game, and have recently slogged my way into the "Officer's Club" in game.

I've had some fun with this game! The early game in the sense of when you are low level and new to the game is very enjoyable. Battles take some thought of what units to use when, etc. But as stated in other reviews, once you get to higher level players, to presence of "BS" cards becomes waaaaay to commonplace. It gets to the point that if you don't utilize the cards yourself, you get beat down time and time again by players who don't even have the courtesy anymore to use the in game chat to say hello. And using those cards are not fun. It ruins the whole core gameplay, with many being a "Play me to win" card and thus throws all sense of tactics out the window. Yes, when you manage to be blessed and defeat those cards it feels good, but when it happens time and time again and you lose game after game to them, it looses its fun very fast.

I don't feel good about playing the "Send all units to hand" card or similar ones because I know how infuriating it is to have them be used against you. I wish there was an option to play games where only base cards or non "play me to win" cards are allowed. I would likely reinstall and enjoy this game some more if then.


In short, fun game at first, but becomes a demoralizing grind once the higher levels are reached. It's free! So play it for a while and get your fun out of it, but I would not personally recommend this to any of my friends, hence my scoring. Thanks for the hours KARDS, for me the war is over.

One of the most amazing card games of all time. I have played many old school card games, ncluding Magic, Star Trek, Star Wars, LOTR, as well as new ones like this one, and Hearthstone. The game is a 10/10, and normally I would recommend such a game...however, I cannot.

This game has absolutely no play testing whatsoever. Broken cards exist everywhere, and I just lost a game from a single card in the new Breakthrough expansion that allowed my opponent to have unlimited Kredits, and play card after card damaging his units as he plays them, but damaging my HQ. I haven't seen this level of brokenness in a game since...well...ever. It honestly is baffling. I know exactly why it is allowed to continue, and the only reason is that players know broken cards exist in every new expansion, and that they aren't fixed, and thus this is how 1939 Games is making their money. Abuse the FTP players...because, most companies with a FTP model don't actually care about it's FTP players.

And, this is sad. Why is it sad? As I said the game design itself is a 10/10. The entire mechanic where you move units to your front lines, and have a support line is such a cool way to visualize the battlefields of WW2, in a card game. You don't have the silly randomness of mana, thank goodness, and get Kredits every turn to play your cards, and move, or attack with your units. The art is superb, even though it is mostly re-used assets, it's like I am a kid again, standing in my favorite hobby shop, and looking at all the models that I can never have enough money to buy, or looking through all of the old Osprey Publishing WW2 unit books. It's gritty looking, and very cool.

But, the simple fact of the matter is that I cannot recommend this to WW2 fans. I'm a WW2 history nut, and that is honestly, truly terrible for me to say, because I think the developers have a respect for this time in history. However, management somewhere is allowing these broken cards to exist, so that people pay hundreds of dollars for the expansions, to get them, and abuse new players.

It's a shame, because I play this game every day, and will continue to do so, even without any kind of login bonus past the first week. No monthly calendar...you have achievements that will give you a slow trickle over time of cards. Basically, you get around 8 gold a day, 2 for your first win, 1 for 3 wins, and 5 for your daily achievement. It costs 10 gold for a pack of 5 cards, so every other day you will get a card, without the non-daily achievements helping you along. And yes, eventually these will run out. I am not really sure what the game will be like when that happens, for me.

But, if they can ever nerf some cards, this will be a 10/10. Right now...it's at 4/10 for new players. I still love it, but it sure is ridiculous to lose to infinite card combos.

UPDATE: The new National Progression update is a joke. The removal of Achievements took away hundreds, if not thousands of potential gold to add to my account. Each achievement gave you either 5, 10, or 15 gold, depending on how difficult it was to achieve. Now, with the National Progression you can earn 14 gold. That's it. My account went from being on the verge of earning more than 14 gold with about 5-10 achievements alone. And those were just the ones I was close to, after only months of playing.

Either whoever is making the decisions for this company hates this game and wants it to fail, or they suffered a traumatic brain injury, I do not know which. That is the only thing I can think of to destroy the capability of FTP players even further, by completely REMOVING achievements, and the chance to earn bonus gold.

Unthinkable, and truly inconceivable. An utter fail of an update. 14 Gold for each country (USA, UK, USSR, Germany, and Japan), and France and Italy do not even have Progression tracks. 70 Gold total, compared to the hundreds, if not thousands of Gold I lost when they wiped my achievements.
