Today we're publishing the full list of cards in the permanent pool - the strategic backbone of KARDS under the new rotation system.

The permanent pool is the set of cards that will never rotate out of the active pool. These are the cards you can safely craft, build around, and rely on regardless of what each new expansion brings. With this expanded core now in place, the active pool will hold between 800 and 900 cards at all times, giving every Commander a stable and diverse foundation for long-term deckbuilding. As we prepare for the upcoming summer expansion, featuring a brand-new nation and fresh mechanics, we’re ready to reveal a first glimpse of what’s ahead.

For years, eagle-eyed Commanders have scouted the card pool and asked: where are the research cards for the Soviet Union and Japan?

The wait is over.

Arriving with the KARDS 2026 Summer Expansion are SOVIET MILITARY RESEARCH and IMPERIAL RESEARCH, completing the research order lineup across all of KARDS’ major WW2 nations.

Choose One - Add AEROSANI to hand OR add EXPANDED SOVIET RESEARCH to hand.

Choose One - Add BALLOON BOMBS to hand OR add EXPANDED IMPERIAL R&D to hand.

Of course, many questions remain. What reinforcements will these research cards call in? How will cards like AEROSANI and BALLOON BOMBS perform on the battlefield?

We’ll begin revealing answers when spoiler season kicks off in the coming weeks. Until then, we’re eager to hear your predictions and battlefield theories.

This foundation, introduced as part of the new rotation system, ensures a consistent and reliable set of tools for every Commander, while the wider active pool continues to evolve around it.

Before reviewing the list, please keep the following in mind:

• ANZAC cards are not yet included. Australia and New Zealand minor nation cards will be added to the permanent pool when the summer expansion launches.
  
• In-game indicators are coming. Once the expansion goes live, permanent pool cards will be clearly marked in the Collection menu, so you'll always know exactly which cards are safe to craft.
  
• Some cards will change. Cards in the permanent pool may still be adjusted or reworked ahead of the summer expansion. We’ll share more details as we get closer to release.

A new Skirmish event is now underway.

This limited-time event runs until April 26, bringing a fresh ruleset and a new battlefield challenge for all who join the fight.

Here’s your field briefing.

Skirmish is a special game mode, accessible directly from the main screen, where each event features its own unique ruleset. Since no two Skirmishes are the same, every event offers a distinct battle experience.

For this weekend’s Skirmish, the rules are as follows:

• Choose your own deck to battle with.
  
• Only Standard and Limited rarity cards are allowed in the deck.

Alongside the special challenge this Skirmish brings, your first win in the event will earn you a free random card pack.

You can access the Skirmish event from either the main screen or the Play menu, where you’ll find a full overview of the mode, its rules, and the reward.

This Skirmish is available from Friday, April 24 at 12:00 UTC until Sunday, April 26 at 18:00 UTC. Take to the battlefield, earn your victory, and claim the spoils.

Update 29.4.2026: A small update has addressed a few minor issues:

• The BREWSTER F2A had incorrect stats (1/1 instead of 1/2). Fixed.
  
• The CHAR B1 Bis unit deployment ability was not correctly triggered after sending to hand and redeploying. Fixed.
  
• A 4TP spawned from DANUTA was destroyed at the end of turn while it was not in play anymore. Fixed.
  
• The Guadalcanal and Manila battlefields were incorrect. Fixed.

• When attacking 22nd MARINES, the T-34-85 1945 incorrectly took 1 damage if a Navy card was on top of the enemy deck. Fixed.

• 31 ALGÉRIENS played the incorrect (order) sound effect upon deployment. Fixed.
  
• Units removed by SENDAI REGIMENT or KYOTO REGIMENT were not correctly returned to the battlefield if the source unit was converted or removed. Fixed.
  
• Battlefields for the Moscow, Guadalcanal, and Tunis City HQs were incorrectly assigned. Fixed.
  
• SOMUA S35’s ability could incorrectly trigger when put into play via ILYUSHIN IL-2. Fixed.
  
• The client could briefly stutter when using cards with “Destroy a friendly unit” effects (e.g. URAL FACTORIES). Fixed.

In addition to the fixes listed above, we’ve implemented several behind-the-scenes improvements to ensure smoother operations across the battlefield.

The KARDS Spring Tournament—our second major engagement of the year - has reached its conclusion. After two days of intense competition, a new champion stands at the top.

Across the weekend, commanders from across the battlefield demonstrated exceptional skill, discipline, and adaptability. Every match was hard-earned, with momentum shifting at a moment’s notice and no ground given freely.

A total prize pool of 3,000 USD is awarded to the top three finishers. In addition, all three secure qualification for the Top 16 at the KARDS 2026 World Championship.

Note: If a player has already secured a Top 16 position through another qualification route, their slot passes down to the next eligible finisher in the Spring Tournament standings.

Hachiman delivered a commanding performance across the finals, combining sharp decision-making with unwavering composure under pressure. Match after match, Hachiman demonstrated the ability to adapt, capitalize, and close - hallmarks of a true tournament leader. A well-earned victory, securing the championship title and 1,500 USD.

259 advanced through the bracket with authority, showcasing consistency, precision, and a deep understanding of the battlefield. Their path to the finals was marked by strong reads and decisive plays, proving themselves a formidable contender at every stage. A well-deserved runner-up finish and 1,000 USD.

DHHCOFN secured a place among the top ranks with disciplined play and well-executed strategies throughout the tournament. With strong performances and key victories along the way, DHHCOFN demonstrated both resilience and tactical awareness. Finishing 3rd, they took home 500 USD and the second runner-up position.

The Australian and New Zealand Army Corps - ANZAC - stands among the most storied fighting forces of the twentieth century. First formed during the First World War, the name began as a simple telegraphic shorthand for a corps assembled in Egypt in 1914. It would go on to carry the identity of two nations.

In World War II, Australian and New Zealand forces fought across North Africa, Greece, the Middle East, and the Pacific. But it was in the Pacific Theater that their reputation was truly forged under extreme conditions.

Jungle warfare in New Guinea and the Solomon Islands pushed soldiers to their limits. Heat, humidity, and monsoon rains turned every advance into a struggle. Terrain that looked manageable on a map became dense jungle, steep ridges, and impassable swamp. Supply lines stretched thin across vast oceans, constantly under threat.

Here, the battlefield itself was as dangerous as the enemy.

This is the environment ANZAC brings to KARDS.

With ANZAC, Australia and New Zealand enter KARDS as a new ally (minor) nation - joining the ranks of Finland, Poland, France, and Italy.

Their identity is shaped by the Pacific Theater - unpredictable conditions, unforgiving terrain, and the ever-present threat of nature itself. Spoiler season begins in May, and we can't wait to show you what that looks like in play.

But ANZAC is more than a new nation. This expansion brings new cards to every nation in KARDS, each reflecting the harsh realities of war across multiple fronts.

A wave of new cards
A substantial set of new cards arrives for every nation, introducing fresh mechanics, strategies, synergies, and deckbuilding possibilities.

Rotation changes
ANZAC lays the groundwork for KARDS’ upcoming rotation system - the largest structural update to the card pool so far. Hello friends!

Spring is upon us and soon we will revel in a summer spoiler season. But before that we have to course correct a few cards that have been misbehaving. The meta has become somewhat stale and the same decks are just growing more popular with very little innovation taking place. So it is time to shake the ant farm one more time and see what treasures emerge before the summer expansion takes over.

Like in the last patch, some of the adjustments we are making are with the upcoming rotation changes in mind, where we will expand the number of cards in the permanent pool, i.e. cards that will never rotate out. A couple of cards in this patch are slated for inclusion in the permanent pool, but are in need of a slight facelift for that transition. More on that below.


As always, we will start by going over the nerfs - the cards we are making worse to give room for other things, before listing the buffs - the cards we want to see more of. Let’s get to it.

Buffs is an interesting, but controversial, card. On one hand, it promotes unique deck building choices and drives play of a nation otherwise bereft of strong decks in recent times, but on the other hand it can take over games unless very specific answers are drawn. For the longest time in the last few months the Buffs archetype saw a decent amount of play with good performance, but in the last couple of weeks has seen a sharp increase in its popularity, to the point an answer was demanded.

The stat nerfs to Buffs are pretty harsh, but its ability remains the same, meaning the soul of the card is still intact. However, with the nerfed body, it now takes a lot more effort to bring it to a dominant state. Our hope is that the archetype is still playable, but a lot less oppressive.

In the epic saga of Buffs, there was always a trusty sidekick lurking in the shadows. A sidekick so potent that it saw play as second fiddle in various other decks, mainly Ger-Brit midrange strategies. We are leaving its stats alone, so the option for imposing links to Chain Home or HMS Formidable are still very much on the table. But the Garrison unit now being added to hand rather than the battlefield gives the enemy a lot better opportunities to answer the Frontier Force before it can become a threat. The upside is that the Garrison in hand can be used to trigger for instance Forward Observers, but as the age-old saying goes - one Garrison in play is better than two in hand.

Old: Blitz. Gets +2 attack until end of turn if another card increases the attack of this unit.
New: Blitz. Gets +1 attack until end of turn if another card increases the attack of this unit.

This nerf may come a bit out of leftfield for some, but the Sd KFz 10 Pak 38 can become a lethal threat more quickly than the time it takes you to say its name four times in a row. While this strategy is still mostly under the radar, it has been growing in strength and popularity in recent weeks and we want to nip it in the bud before it goes out of hand. The nerfed version can still provide good value and it now has greater staying power, but its OTK days are gone.

In a stunning turn of historical events it turns out the Big Three were not big enough and will now grow one bigger to five. The Big Three operates on a spectrum with “win more” on one end and “completely dead on an empty board” on the other, but in between there is this sweet spot where you grew your team to an unassailable position for the enemy to deal with. And now that the US has even more tools to do similar things, such as 15th Engineers, it is becoming frustratingly consistent. So to combat this we are making The Big Three bigger.

The final nerf of the April patch hits the hotfix hotpants fox itself, the 106th Infantry Regiment. Since its inception it quickly became the most desirable belle of the ball in most Japan-based decks. It has many strengths, one of them being the ability to contest the frontline with no cost, meaning their powerful ability became more of a problem for the enemy. So the nerf may seem slight, and make no mistake, the 106th will still be a very strong card, but the 1 operation cost makes the card a lot worse at fighting over the frontline, especially in the early turns of the game when it matters most.

The ol’ Lancaster warhorse is seeing a slight facelift. The 7-4 ate 9 and now costs 8 kredits as a result. It may still feel slow and cumbersome, but a 7 attack blitz unit is nothing to sneeze at and if a British heavy bomber deck ever shows up the Lancaster now has a much higher chance of being included.

The Ace Of Spades has not turned out to be the ace in the hole many hoped for, the 7 kredits being demanded turning out to be too high of a stake. At 6 cost though the powerful abilities promised by the unit make it a much more appealing bet to make and can lead straight to a flush of dead enemy units and a full house of trophies.

The ability of the M2A4 is a neat one that fits nicely with the rest of what the US was up to in Homefront, but its stats made it slightly awkward to use effectively. The 0 operation cost is a significant upgrade, even if it comes with a lower defense. Buffing this bad boy is now a lot more satisfying and we expect to see more rumble in the jungle with it.

Old: Mobilize, Heavy Armor 2. When this unit loses Mobilize, draw a card.
New: Shock, Heavy Armor 2. Deployment: Gains Blitz if this is the first unit you deploy this turn.

Now we come to the first of the two cards changing because of them becoming part of the permanent pool. Mobilize is not part of said pool, but we wanted to include this iconic tank, so changes are in order. It is now part of the “first unit deployed” theme of France. Strong stats plus the combination of Shock and Blitz makes this a powerful inclusion in mid-range or control decks, though only time will tell if we see it charging into the meta.

Old: Destroy target unit and Salvage it.
New: Destroy target unit. Add a copy of it to your hand.

The clever Motti tactic served Finland well during World War II, but its performance in Kards has been rather lackluster. In addition, same as with Mobilize above, Salvage is not part of the permanent pool. The card retains its functionality for the most part, but getting a full fledged copy of the destroyed unit is significantly stronger than a salvaged copy, even with the additional cost.

This time, the operation begins a day earlier than usual - shifting to Friday and Saturday. Based on feedback from our playerbase, this adjustment is designed to better accommodate Commanders and viewers in our most active regions.
