KARDS - The WWII Card Game

You broke all my decks for the last time.
I'm out. Time for a new CCG.

This one has too many of the same decks anyway, thanks to deck stealing and meta builds. Was not a problem in my last CCG.

I'm not going to lie and say it's easy, but it is possible to get to OC without a meta deck. I've done it. Granted, I'm having to rebuild my deck again, but hey. It's frustrating, yet rewarding making it to OC with a deck literally nobody else runs.

I wish there was a way to compare the top ranking players to see who's using your run of the mill ez deck that the majority of players are vs some convoluted deck that wins games because nobody expects it.

What was your last CCG? Because to my knowledge all of them introduce rotating formats at some point. Without it, the meta would be even more stale. And every single one of them has meta builds, you simply can't prevent that in 2024.

Also "This one has too many of the same decks anyway" is both not true and at the same time the reason why cards are rotated. So, you are complaining both about decks being broken and too many decks looking the same? What?

Right now is the best time to play precisely because the old decks can't be played like before and no meta builds to steal from are available yet. So, you are throwing the game at the exact point where your complaints aren't valid, good choice.

But seriously, what magical CCG were you playing before Kards? I played about 2 dozens in my career, both online and paper versions, and all of them do have a meta and people copying from each other, we don't live in a vacuum and if you got a computer to play Kards, you also have access to databases. The only CCGs without true metas and rotating formats are those that nobody plays and that die off within the first 3 years.

I'm in OC every season. I don't care.

I want a fun game, with lots of variety of play. I will find that elsewhere, not here.

ESL was my last CCG. Never rotated cards to reserve.

Give it a try, it's about to shutdown so all cards are free I believe, and it's free to play.

So it IS a dying game that didn't last even 3 years! Whowuddavethouhgt? Yes, it exists for 6 or so years but development stopped years ago and there was only two years where they released new cards. If they had survived and released an expansion every 6 months ESL would also have a rotating format now. Or other way round: When Kards was just 2 years old, it didn't need a rotation format yet. OF COURSE ESL never rotated cards - they didn't need to because all they had were 8 expansion that added just 700 new cards. That's still manageable. Another couple of hundred of cards and it'll detoriate.

Of course you'll do as you please, and there is little point playing a game you don't enjoy.

That being said and agreed, it's a bit surprising leaving the game at the precise moment of an expansion release, which is when you'll find the most variety of play since everybody is trying stuff with the new cards and there is no meta yet so no case of "too many of the same decks".

Once again, you're free to stop playing if you don't have fun, but the reasons given make little sense.
