B-Uhr Luftwaffe Aviator Watch
Is there a good reason why this cosmetic board item it being priced at roughly 100€?

It appears ridiculous. Who EVER would buy that?

I guess that's the question with any kind of luxury item in the world that people spend money on, be it physical or virtual. The watch is unique and will probably never be available for a lower price. So, if you want to show off a little, that's the way.
A better question is why they made cardbacks cost 50 diamonds instead of 30. Earlier you could buy a smallest diamond pack and have yourself a cardback. Now you will need to buy two, because it contains 48 diamonds — juuuuuuuuuust a little bit not enough.

P.S. Just played against someone who had B-Uhr on the table. So there's definitely people who have enough money on their hands to buy it.

Rumor has it that those that buy that cosmetic board item, will also receive a real version (a reproduction) just like the Cosmetic one via the mail..

As every gaming company they try what is possible.

Out there are people who think they are *special* if they show items like that.
Well, they are special, but in another way.........

It is the same in World of Warships, people buy pixel ships for more than 100 bucks. simply unbeleivable.
But.......do not flame the company, they only try to find the idiots who pay for crap like that.
In Cologne carneval the beer price is trippled an the people pay it, so well done.

For my person, price policy like that keep my purse closed - for all items.

have fun

I mean... why not ? 100 bucks is nothing nowadays
Supply and demand... whoever wants to buy it, can do so

Clout item I guess, this becomes a problem when it starts to be a common practice.

Still waiting for a good US board item... I ain't paying 999 diamonds though :/

As long as we are talking cosmetics it won't be a problem. To the contrary, the more money the devs make via cosmetics the less incentive they have to drive sales via powercreep or other methods that are unhealthy for the game.

In Germany most people get under 15 Euro/hour before tax..........

Sounds that you are a rich guy who has lost ground contact.

You'd be surprised how much people are willing to spend on useless stuff just to show off

More often than not, most of those types of people didn't get the "needed" affirmation from their parents growing up and then as a grown-up, end up seeking it from others in whatever way(s) they can...

Showing off is a natural phenomenon for many people, to raise their value/importance in their society and thus their ego.

I´d say though theres a fine line in the outcome, when what you show off appears entirely ridiculous. One thing makes you the envy of others while the other can make you quickly the center of jokes for showing off your proneness for bad deals.

That may be true IRL but in a virtual game like this you get zero feedback from your opponent. You can't see or hear him and we can't even write, all we have is emotes. So, in the end, the entire ordeal is just happening in the mind of the player purchasing these things. It just does not matter what you and me actually think about it.
Also, of course, some players genuinely also don't care what others think and just find these things pretty and enjoy watching those decorations.

You are correct and modern times are tough for most people , hence why I meant 100 (euros or dollars) is not really much, like you cannot do much with it. For an ingame cosmetic item, it is.
However, I am sure there will be lots of people out there who will buy it.

Yeah, I made a trip to Heidepark Soltau (nc-friedrth10 will know this) with my family last weekend. I had exactly 100€ in cash with me when we started and I had 5 left when we came back. Now you might say "but 100 bucks is quite cheap for 1 1/2 days at an amusement park!" ... but the thing is, that was just the extra money we spent. That's WITHOUT the tickets, breakfast, lunch and staying overnight in a barebones shack, all of which was paid in advance! Those 100 bucks just evaporated like the Slush ice I had to buy for my son (it was blazingly hot). 5€ for a slush and we had to do everything ourselves, all he did was giving us a cup! And he didn't even take cash, so I had to wipe my credit card (which means the remaining 5 bucks in my wallet were actually gone, too).
This also doesn't account for the gas for trip BTW.

But if one has lost ground contact, what better item is there for them than an aviator watch?! :D
