Research Cards from two nations without Spy Ring?

I recently played against someone playing GBR/USA who played research cards from both. To my knowledge, without Spy Ring, you shouldn't be able to do that... but am I just forgetting something?

Hm good suggestion. I hadn't considered that, but no, I didn't have any research cards myself.

This is hard to be true and without the full replay it is not really possible to say. If you are completely sure he was playing US as ally then yeah it seems like Night Raid is the only option. In all honesty I think you just missed something but if it bugs you enough you should definetively ask for a review.

Wouldn't Night Raid not provide a research card if I didn't have on in my deck?

I'm curious, but I don't really care much about Ranked these days.

I'm not saying it's the case here, but if the player is playing UK main it can sometimes be hard to be certain of the ally nation unless you're really paying attention. If your opponent plays Night Raids and Atlantic Convoys, they can easily get US units and orders (if you're playing US) and it can be logical to assume they're playing US ally when their ally could have been the Soviets all along and perhaps a spy ring slipped by unnoticed.
