KARDS - The WWII Card Game

KARDS - The WWII Card Game

EVERY SINGLE penultimate mission in each campaign is unreasonably difficult to 3-star
What's up with the INSANE difficulty spike when it comes to 3-starring the second-to-last-mission in each campaign? They're all needlessly difficult and are almost entirely luck of the draw. Anyone have any tips for each one? It's a little ludicrous.

Haven't gotten that far, what are the missions you describe? And what card routes have you picked?

I would only worry about if you are intent on getting the new emotes.
Me, I just blasted through the 5 National campaigns to get the Kards.
I plan to revisit them to try the alternate strategies offered as each seemed a nice little slice of historic flavour.
So far, my best run in a campaign was 13 stars. If one day I get 15 stars and earn a new emote great! If not it won't affect my game play, so no worries.
I can't even win the first mission in the free campaign. I might just be trash, but starting out with such a a disadvantage is too hard.

I'm trash and I made it through, so will you.

I have only managed to get the German and the British.

German - Supply Escorts

Scenario : Tel El Eisa
Objective : End your turn with four of your units in the frontline
Stars-1 : Win the battle in 9 turns of less
Stars-2 : Start last turn without control of the frontline
Stars-3 : Destroy more units than you lose
Special-1 : Enemy units operate for free on turn 1
Special-2 : Draw an extra card each turn after you re-take the frontline

Tips
- I chose to upgrade the Panzer IV-G twice to get the Sudden Strike special, which helps clearing the board more easy.
- I chose to focus on the Panzer II-A for the Smokescreen to have them ready to jump to the frontline when needed (Stars-2) and taking no damage (Stars-3)

British - Yanks on the Flanks

Scenario : Sidi Nisr
Objective : Destroy two Tiger I-H tanks
Stars-1 : Destroy two Tigers in the same turn
Stars-2 : Your HQ took no damage during the battle
Stars-3 : Win the battle losing 8 or fewer units
Special-1 : Replace FOR THE KING with AIR POWER in your deck
Special-2 : Your artillery units have +1 attack

Tips
- Focus on the other units around the first Tiger. Best outcome would be to have only two Tigers on the board
- I chose to upgrade the Lancashire Fuseliers with the Guard special.

Well, I got 15 stars in Japan campaign by using first tactics (jungle forces or something). Improve most common cards first and then mostly useless (like 3-1 infantry so it become 3-3 for 1 credit for example).

Russian - Siberian transfer

Scenario : Kalinin Offensive
Objective : Destroy the enemy HQ
Stars-1 : Win battle in 8 turns or less
Stars-2 : Destroy twice as many units as you lose
Stars-3 : Capture the frontline on turn 4 or earlier
Special-1 : At the start of each of your turns, deal 1 damage to all
Special-2 : You units enter the battlefield with +2 defense
Special-3 : Enemy air units cost +2 to operate
Special-4 : Enemy units in the frontline have +3 operation cost

Tips
- When destroying a unit in the frontline there is an auto reinforcement of an 87th Panzergrenadier so safe your units for the push in turn 4.
- When AI drops 4. Pioneer Battalion surrender the game, especially when there are 2.
- Use ambush units in the frontline to have a better chance of doubling the kills

American - In The Navy

Scenario : Battle of Henderson Field
Objective : Start your turn with 3 units in the frontline
Stars-1 : Destroy 8 or more units
Stars-2 : Lose 6 units or less
Stars-3 : Your HQ has 10 or more defense at the end of the battle
Special-1 : The enemy starts with 8 kredit slots and loses 1 per turn down to 3

Tips
- Use Naval Bombardment to send the most dangerous unit to AI's hand. Effective with the upgrade that makes it cost 0 kredits when the frontline is occupied by the enemy (for all scenarios).
- Use Embargo to make his first turns less effective, especially if it drops expensive cards

Japanese - Bombs Away!

Scenario : Fall of Bataan
Objective : Destroy the enemy HQ
Stars-1 : Win the battle in 6 turns or less
Stars-2 : Destroy three times as many enemy units as you lose
Stars-3 : Win the battle with 5 or more cards in hand
Special-1 : All enemy units have -1 attack
Special-2 : Reduce combat damage against the enemy HQ by the number of enemy units on the battlefield
Special-3 : Cards in your staring hand cost 0
Special-4 : You draw an extra card on turns 2 to 5

Tips
- Make the most of the 0 cost starting hand by using heavy hitters and buffs
- Took upgrades:
-- Air Superiority [Pin],
-- Air Superiority [2] [If you have a unit on the battle battlefield],
-- 20th Infantry Regiment [1/1, 3/3]

They've been hard but I've been able to do all of them except one. The one which I'm having tremendous difficulty achieving is the US campaign with Marines on Henderson Field. The game will guarantee kill 3 of 6 units pretty much immediately. Then they field a 5/3 ambush unit, or units which damage your HQ for 2 upon death. In either case the 5/3 ambush will hit your HQ to 10 and the moment you kill an akita troop you're hq is down below 10. Good luck finding that We can do it card in your deck. The 3 star constraints are too much of a puzzle in which you're not guaranteed to get the cards needed in your hand or that the opponent won't just kill you by suicide, or take out 3 more units before you kill 8 of his. It's not skill it's luck which makes it lame.

yeah, I've managed to get through them all too. Simple case of the monkey typewriter scenario.
