Survive was Kojima's idea.
According to an ex IGN Journalist:

Which makes sense since Survive was obviously in pre production phase in 2014-2015.

Remember "Kojima would never add zombies to Metal Gear!" or "Zombies don't belong in Metal Gear !" complains that Survive get for it's first trailer?

Really the worst thing about Metal Gear franchise is the Kojima fanboys. Because of them, non Kojima Metal Gear games receive lots of unnecessary backlash.

Metal Gear NES is also another casualty of this toxic fanbase. That game was 90 percent the same game as the MSX version but on a much weaker hardware. And yet the fanbase consider it as a crappy game because their god Kojima has said it so.(He was obviously outraged that the NES version was much more financially successful than the MSX version.)

The same Kojima that stated that Dead Stranding was a comercial success, hahah (Tom Cruise laughing meme)

For me he's been living from a 20 yo hit masterpiece, that he half wrote if not less.

Survive is a good game, MG canon or not.

Survive has issues and I'm not a fan of how the coop works but the single player portion I throughly enjoyed. Great map to explore the heck out and find all the secrets.

Yeah. For me Survive is a 7.5/10 game that the fanboys decided to flag as a 0/10 game.

In my opinion Metal Gear 1 and Metal Gear 2:SS were better games than MGS 1 since:
1.Kojima didn't focused on adding long and pointless cutscenes.
2.And they were the only stealth games at their time while at 1998 we had games such as Thief 1 that was superior than MGS 1.

As for Death Stranding sales, I only consider it successful only if Sony or another publisher funds a sequel for it.(Which is a much better source on determining whether a game was a success or a failure than the producer saying that it was successful.)

Yeah he definitely is overhyped especially in regards to telling a cohesive narrative and hes so full of himself he loves to force gamers to watch more than play his games. I never finished a MGS... the only one I did finish was the original Metal Gear on the NES as a kid haha. Got it confused with MGS.

The game wasnt made by Kojima it was made by Komani. Hideo Kojima Was fired after the making of Phantom Pain. He wasnt even allowed to go to the awards for the game. Hideo Kojima started up Kojima again with a new backing. This was the first game that wasnt made by him in the metal gear series.

1.Kojima wasn't fired. He just left.(And Konami tried to pull him back while telling to press that "Kojima is on a vacation.")

2.The first metal gear game that wasn't made by him were the 2 NES games.(And after that Ghost Babel and after that metal gear games were he was just a producer.)

3.And, this game was his idea according to that source.(He also liked to make a zombie type game in metal gear franchise)

The development timeline does indeed support this statement. Also, in MGSV there actually were a sort of zombie soldiers, during the later part of the game.

This thread is just for Kojima haters lol.
Maybe if you played either MGS1/2/3/4/5 or PW, you'd understand that "If" his name was on it, the MGS game was more than just a game. It was meant to delve into full warfare and it's affects, especially on individual psyche. That's how we get great bosses and great moments in the series. Not Fake Morpheus talking about Hell and the Chosen one.

But I'm guessing the people here are like "Oh my gawd Matt Mercer is my enemy but also my friend, so powerful omg".

My personal opinion is this is a good game, but nowhere near a good "Metal Gear" game.

So, we had this article :
https://translate.google.com/translate?depth=1&hl=fr&pto=aue&rurl=translate.google.fr&sl=fr&sp=nmt4&tl=en&u=http://www.gameblog.fr/news/91090-revelations-sur-les-plans-de-kojima-pour-le-dlc-de-metal-gea

The one that players know as Metal Gear Survive was therefore born from the time when Hideo Kojima was still the Big Boss of the original version of Kojima Productions. Before becoming a game in its own right, there was talk of a DLC of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain in the lighter tone called MGSV.5 internally. When designing this additional content, Zombie Modes, especially those of Call of Duty , were popular and that inspired Konami. This content would therefore have been less "realistic" than the basic game, and would have used a lighter tone and effectively staged "zombies." But not only.

Snake vs "Godzilla"
Indeed, what was presented to us as the "big idea" of Hideo Kojima for this DLC, would have been the presence of " kaijû ," giant monsters from Japanese popular culture, which we would have had to face with Snake and Company. These creatures would not have been known characters under license like Godzilla but quite simply imposing monsters. MGSV.5 would have taken place on the map of the original game and would have, in addition to Snake and soldiers from the Mother Base, allowed to play Ocelot and to use Mantis as a mission companion. As Metal Gear Survive players could see, some of these plans fell apart when Hideo Kojima left Konami and the ambitions for what has become a standalone have been lowered.
According to a modder that modded Survive, the lord of dust is actually named kaiju so I think that part of article about Survive is actually true unlike some other parts of it.(Since I don't know whether it's true or not I won't put it on the original post.)

I also read somewhere that Survive uses some cut ideas of MGS V. Mainly hunger and thirst system.(That whole cutscene of Ocelot giving Venom Snake a water canteen wasn't just for show.)

Comparing Survive with main MGS games is completely wrong because the main games are in a different genre.(It's as unfair as comparing Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks with other MK games, Or that Yakuza zombie game with main Yakuza games.)

As it's own Survive is a good game.(Similar to good spin off games that we have gotten from lots of game franchises.)

Lmao, BTW MGS games have always been games, nothing more nothing less.
Just because journalists give them more spotlight compare to other stealth games doesn't make them more than some military stealth games that were popular.
