Can't seem to find a forum post without you.
Don't you have anything better to do with your time?
You seem to be really obsessed.
But to the OP, yes it's worth it.
The grinding is there but it's not too bad because you're always exploring and finding new things whereever you go. You stock up and you get better things to help you out. It's worth it and will help you progress just like any other survival game.
The microtransactions are basically powerless. Small boosters and such, nothing you can't enjoy the game without. The only MT that has any meaning (and it's very small) is yes, as mdesaleah points out is you do have to pay for an extra acharacter slot. But in a survival game it's unlikely that you'll really want to. One character is good enough for your playtime and online stuff.
Always online on a co-op game? Shocking.
I'm sure by the time the servers closed everybody will be happy with the time they've spent on this. It's not something people will be playing for years and years.
My advice? Go on your own instinct and try it for yourself. Download it, give it a try.
Don't go in with the mindset of it being a MG game, go in with the thoughts of standalone.
But personally, I'm really enjoying it.
single player with pay to win features thats funn right?
sorry single player with co-op optional features.
Team scavenging is garbage anyway. Useless feature IMO.
Multiplayer rewards can give you ''broken items''. They're items you can restore to working order but you don't learn the recipe to make them(although that doesn't really matter much). Singleplayer is where you can find its recipe. Single Player has better exploring, is where you build your base, etc.
End game will probably end up being multiplayer, I'm not sure if enough people have gotten there yet. (I'm only on mission 15 myself and it just transported me to an entirely new map as far as I'm aware, make sure you explore a lot!).
TL:DR Single Player is definitely worth it.
Also, I would recommend ignoring people bringing up MT's.
As long as you are a reasonable gamer, and above the age of 10. You will not have to spend $ on any extra features. You can pay to speed up harvests at your base (like potato garden) but the issue they ignore is that this is not an intended way to rely on food. You're supposed to be out hunting for food and the farms and crap are mainly for your crew to stay alive and manage themselves. You also get a few boosts to Kuban energy drops but you'll be finding PLENTY of it as it is, every single mob has them and you'll never be left wanting. Another MT is exclusive to Multiplayer EXP you get, which you don't have to worry about(and is a waste of money). As well as needing an extra character slot. I believe you can grind on multiple characters to do dailies and such double, which is why it's behind a paywall....do you really intend to play the game on two different characters? That makes no freaking sense, it's dumb they charge for it but you'll never use this feature ever. Like, why would you want 2 characters? Why?
This isn't to say they won't add worse ones down the line, and I'm definitely prepared to change my positive review to a negative one as soon as they do it. For now though don't bother even batting an eye at them.
The people whining about the game are just butthurt that it's actually a decent game and think Metal Gear shouldn't be in the title. Kojima has been done with Metal Gear since Metal Gear Solid 2 and only made more because he was practically forced to as far as I care. No one should be butthurt that Konami wanted to make a survival game with its assets but whatever.
This, Multiplayer is nice but not required. It can help you get materials to build extra stuff which is cool and all, or give you some fast Kuban rewards in order to level up.
Having said that, things progressively unlock through single player so you have to play that anyway. For example you only start with basic workbenches, even if you had the Military Helmet broken piece drop on MP you'd still have to get the Advanced Crafting Table unlocked in your base in order to repair it.
Moreover, the point about recipies and broken items is that your exploration units and such use up items (definitely use up medical supplies) so you want to be able to consistently equip them with good stuff so they can go out and get you materials.
Yeah currently the microtransactions are pretty benign for the common player. The worst one is the save slot thing and even that is laughable at best. I mean, you can just family share the game if you absolutely must have a second slot. And the rest of the microtransactions are worthless boosts and speedups that only an impatient child would bother grabbing. I'm honestly surprised there weren't any cosmetic microtransactions there was a good opportunity for them and they didn't take advantage of it. But I do hope it stays this benign
God isn't that the truth. They get so buttblasted over the reusing of the engine and assets. Like, they had all that stuff just laying around no reason to not reuse it. Most of them don't even complain about the real problems like the UI control thats an absolute pain for anyone new to the engine.
If you like survival games and Metal Gear the single player will probably net you hours of enjoyment, i've got 10 hours invested on just the single player alone
No when the servers close, they'll patch it so they aren't needed.
