Returning to Submarine camera?
So one of the biggest problems I've been having with this game is not being able to change the camera back to submarine view for evasion.
For the last 5 missions the camera seems to stop switching back to the Submarine at random.

First mission I fired a torpedo and when it got a target I switched to it then it wouldn't switch back. Even after the torpedo exploded I wasn't able to switch back, my sub was fine, no detections, it just....broke... this happened 4 more times, one switching to a ship camera, another from the game showing a ship firing a depth charge.

Is this a common problem? Is there a way to fix it?

I have just about 300 hrs in the game, so I'm no expert by any means, but I have never had this bug... Sorry...

I guess you would not post this without making sure it's not just a case of pressing the wrong key in the heat of battle?

I ask, because I have some times had an issue, where I have an enemy vessel in my view screen, and change to tactical view. Then when a helo drops a torpedo close by my ship, I want to go to own ship view, but when I press tab I end up with the previous view of the enemy ship, and have to press f1 to go to own ship.
I lost valuable time because of this, but I have never had an issue were I am locked in torpedo view.

Quick question: Any mods installed?

this happens sometimes to me, too. I guess it's bug. Sometimes you don't get back to your own ship 3-d view when you left click on your sub icon on the tactical map

But what if you press f1 in stead?
I find that clicking the tactical map can be challenging, especially if other icons are close to what you want to click.

One example is when sonar contacts are close to each other and almost overlapping in the tactical map. Often nothing happens when you click a contact. It just stays on the one you already had in control.

Don't know if the two cases are related, but I find using hot keys some times is better than clicking the icons on screen...

Never had this hapen. And I agree with rokvam that clicking the tactical map is sometimes challenging, especially when you want to move your torpedo activation point when it is close to the target icon. You either have to zoom in quickly and grab the activation point or risk being too late (I hate it when that happens).

I have had the same issue as well. Maybe it has something to do with me being a mac user, but like you say, it cuts in and out at the most inconvenient times (i.e. you've got three wires, and a torp chasing you).
I literally just checked this discussion after 40 hours of gameplay, and tried one of the solutions aforementioned. Turns out f1 is the lifesaver in the situation, and returns the camera to 3rd person for your sub!

Are you saying that nothing is happening when you press F!, the key command that locks you back to your own sub?

The issue was if only if I attempted to click my submarine Icon in the map, that I could not return to the chase camera. This only happens off and on, but its a pain when it does.

F1 did lock the view onto my sub, and solved the issue. I have always been used to hitting my icon with the cursor, and never thought to use a keybind. Whenever I'm not able to change view through clicking the icon, I always hit F1 from now on, and it seems to work.

F1 should always bring you back. F2 is your target. F3 is the torpedo, and F4, kinda cheating, is the nearest air asset hunting you. Frankly, they give you too much info (except the self-view) so I try not to use them at all, except for cinematic purposes

The clicking in CW is kinda not precise. If there's a confusion on what you may be clicking on, the game defaults to not reacting at all. You need to zoom in and make sure you are clicking on something with a bit of separation from the rest, at least on my Windows version of the game.

Use F1, it never fails

Jeez. Read the Posted Time guys. This post was back in 2017. The topic is dead. Keep it that way.

I'm having the same issue in 2023. I'm hitting f1 and it isn't returning to the submarine

Well, hey apparently haven't fixed it, because it's 5 years later, and people are still experiencing the problem.
