They come to the same decision, but they come to it differently. They're more honest with themselves and each other, and Rosemary is the one to say it, and the end of their relationship, bittersweet as it is, doesn't feel like loss. If I remember correctly, Rosemary doesn't even mention wishing it had come out differently.
It's beautiful- and at the same time, I can understand someone feeling disappointed in it, or left hanging by it.
