RANT: About Alisa Sorry if I offend your waifu.
I just finished chapter 4, and I seriously can't stand her BS anymore. I think i might just quit the game because of her. I know the story, the setting and battle is really good but if our main heroine is a ♥♥♥♥♥ like her... it wouldn't even make the experience pleasant at all. So far I am liking most of the other characters except Alisa. It's really sad that Alisa is the Main Heroine*Bi***"
My favorite character is probably Towa who isn't even important. Im not sure how this go but judging that Alisa is the main heroine I bet the protag will end up with her.

Well my frustration isn't just about Alisa but about the fans. I am half Japanese and I usually access to both the JP community and Eng community to look through discussions and opinions. Not to be offensive but Japanese really have ♥♥♥♥♥♥ taste. Most of them vote Alisa as their best girl, while in foreign community Alisa is considered the worst girl, at least not the best. For so long I really wanted a person to rant about this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ tsundere BS and would be happy to discuss with people here. Since many Japanese people likes it including my Japanese friends and I really don't understand how they feel at all. It's really dumb, like are they some kind of masochist or something. Honestly, I never expected the characters here to be full of tsundere cliche as Trails in the sky FC&SC was absolutely a wonderful experience. Compare to this I am really disappointed on how Falcom made its main heroine to be an utter ♥♥♥♥♥. Again Sorry, but I am really frustrated about it and I am wanting to stop seeing that Alisa is gonna end up with Rean anyways.

Alisa got on my bad side right at the beginning of the game. I expect the Trails games to have better writing than "harem protagonist has tsundere girl fall on him and then slap him for it," and it failed hard. I can give her a little bit of credit for getting over that particular incident fairly quickly and admitting she was wrong, but she still leans on the her tropes hard for the entire game. She is, by far, the worst-written female character in the game, and so it's frustrating that she's basically presented as the main girl.

The good news is that you can just ignore her bonding events and spend time with any of the other girls instead, and she's not really that important overall. Just stick her on the bench and keepgoing.

Give it some time. Character development is what Falcom does best after all. Like Machias for example is my most hated character when I started out cs1, and become a bit decent in cs2 and then there is cs3... lol.
Oh, and Machias fits the tsundere trope a lot more than Alisa did. Alisa's only being a tsundere in like first two chapter? Or maybe only the first? She completely drop the tsundere mode after chapter 3 iirc.

Huh. Nice to see the same folks ranting and raving about Alisa here as on the various PS3 boards back in the day. It's amazing to me that such a tame tsundere can set people off. I guess fans these days are too accustomed to female characters who immediately fall in love the with protagonist, and constantly bend over backward to (figuratively fellate the player?

Both Machias and Jusis are possibly bigger tsunderes than Alisa, particularly towards each other. Eventually, everyone can see it.

Alisa has a few tsun-moments throughout the game, but they're fairly mild and generally don't last longer than a sentence or two.

As far as tsunderes go, she's pretty tame. After the start of chapter 1, 9 out of 10 interactions with her are just friendly classmate/friend interactions. It's just that by the time the apology scene played out, lots of players already formed an image of her that stuck in the back of their minds. Just goes to show that first impressions do count for a lot.

Too bad you don't like tsundere. I like them.

I've said it elsewhere and I'll say it here: Alisa is the Class VII girl who is actually written like a teenager with teenager overreactions and teenager levels of drama. Whether you consider that a good thing might reflect partially your age, or your patience, or just your preferences in general.

Millium is the best girl, so who cares about ♥♥♥♥♥ Alisa?
Erpy Nov 11, 2017 @ 1:17pm
Millium is a X) emoticon that was given sentience and a flying robot. :P

I object to that statement. Specifically, the "was given sentience" part.

Don't you make me have to do a giant write up about how awesome a character Millium is. You know I'll do it! xD

Doesn't Millium have two mirage slots in her orbment? I've started reading mirage quartz affinity as a Falcom hint to the tune of "everything about this character is a lie."

In fact, I think about how characters' colors relate them in general. Sometimes, I'll even start to speculate on what color an NPC would be if I could play them.

The colors do reflect the characters. This is intentional as both a design choice for color matching and a lore related one, as it is explained in FC that each tactical orbment is unique to each person. It also ties in to ARCUS users needing to be compatable with their tactical orbments in this game.

I'm not sure I've ever heard about Mirage having that meaning. It's not impossible that they have some sort of 'deceiving' theme to them, but it could also just be because Mirage is a white/silver color and Millium is known as White Rabbit/has a silver puppet.

What I have heard, however, is that Time is generally reserved for 'edgy' or 'dark' characters, like (Trails in the Sky Entire Trilogy Spoilers) Joshua and Kevin or in this game's case (Cold Steel Chapter 4 Spoilers) Rean and Fie.

In the case of Cold Steel, I'm not sure how the later two count as "edgy or dark".

Cold Steel 1 ending spoilers: Perhaps Crow's time slot refers to his patient waiting for his plan to execute?

The Time element seems to be not quite synonymous with evil/demonic things and death, but it's definitely getting there. All the Time AoE spells open up some fashion of gate literally to the depths of Hell, and Time is also the element associated with instant slay. In fact, in the way that The Third assigns elemental weaknesses Time is sort of implied to straight-up be Dark, whereas Space is kinda sorta implied to be Light.

Note that Time magic doesn't really make sense as opening portals to other dimensions - normally interdimensional gates would be Space, you'd think. But not in Trails.
