After playing a bit of undub version, I don't think English dub deserve the hate.

As a person who catches at least 4~5 series of anime each season and watch American cartoons and from the country that got official translation(Korea), and watched Korean dub, English dub and Japanese dub of many popular cartoons and animes, I really don't think Xseeds done anything less than satisfying work. I even like English version better in many of the parts. Translation goes above and beyond; it's making a likable game even more exceptional. I recognize significant difference btw the original dialogue and the translated version, and it's for the better tbh. I'm not saying I hate Japanese dub, I'm loving it so far. I'm just saying that making discussion board a♥♥♥♥♥♥party with some petty argument is not going to change mind of our lord and savior CEO Kondo.

After finding out the Dio Brando's voice actor (Takehito Koyasu) plays Olivert, I'd enjoy hearing the Japanese version just to see that crazy contrast.

OP: I feel pretty similar to you. It's a more than passable dub, and most characters are cast fairly well. There are a handful that I dislike (ok, mainly just Millium and to a lesser extent Alisa), but as dubs go it's nothing to get upset about.

Olivert's VA Koyasu Dakehito did said that Olivert is pretty much the representation of himself. He is very talented man, and so are many others who costantly show up in other anime shows. Japanese anime industry is demanding as much as it is lucrative work field for voice actors. I did make a mistake of titling my post wrong after a light drink, so don't beat him too much.

I actually changed back to the english voices after playing a little of the undub version. And I always prefer playing with japanese voices whenever it's possible. The english VO in Cold Steel are really good!

I played about 150 hrs in English version, and I might have to play another 2 times to get all the achievements, so I will play Japanese and English version back to back. I have no life lol. Might as well play Korean language unofficial patch version of Trails in the sky too.

Agreed, I also prefer japanese voices, but the dub in this game is very decent. The few characters I had a problem with were Towa, Millium and Alisa, they often didn't sound natural. The rest was perfectly fine.

I thought the same first, and then it kinda grow into me. Now I can't be satisfied with normal sounding Japanese dub. Please send help.

The English dub don't deserve the hate at all, if only people would just take off their bias glasses for once.
