Bomber Crew
How you can keep your crew alive
Why doesn't anyone mention that, if you lose a bomber, you can just quit the mission and start over, thus saving you from having to re-train a new crew and get a new aircraft? I am about midway through the campaign and still have my original team.

Almost everyone knows that, actually. It's just not many use it, because it's not how the game is meant to be played and can be considered a cheat/exploit.
After all, in your first campaigns it's perfectly alright to lose some planes and crew - the game's all about that: trying to keep them alive and flying in fun and dangerous situations, failing miserably and trying to restore what you've lost if you fail. People die in the war, you know.
However, if that's the way you like it (for example if you REALLY don't want to lose a plane you spent a lot of time decorating and a crew you've made backstories of), there's no one stopping you from it. Just don't forget that by your third or even second playthrough you will have learned most tricks that will help you survive the whole campaigns with a single plane and a single crew.
For example, on my 1st playthrough, I've been burning through bombers and crewmembers like they were redshirts; on my 2nd game I've only lost 1 gunner in the early missions and one time my plane had to emergency land in England in the mid-game (no one died); on the third and consequent campaigns I've swooped through the war without any deaths.

You're right nobody has mentioned that (except for all the times it's mentioned in multiple threads).

Because most of us don't feel like cheesing it?

I think the game lose's a-lot of fun if you don't let your mistakes stick.
I've lost some good men trying out things.

You can also just keep running the first missions over and over again without needing to take the Critical missions, and level up your plane and crew until you feel comfortable...

Don't you get higher level recruits though after some progression when you do lose crew members? That's what I have seen at least, I'm still a rook though so I could be wrong. Loving this game though..loads of fun.
