tips for bombing from high altitude

lean engines at high alttitude as much as you can, create custom nav points in target area if its cloud covered sometimes you need to approach from a different target approach for the bomb sites.

I've been trying to figure this a well, one theory I have is it may be best to select and drop all your bombs to acount for the innaccuracy you'll face with cloud cover. You'll still have to guesstimate it though.

"dive bomb": dive to Med Alt when you acquire target and drop bombs when target just touches/slightly ahead of crosshairs. Then climb back to High Alt

If its night time, you can nav there using the stars. you should see the outline of what you need to bomb through the clouds, if not just do another pass untill there is a gap in the clouds.

If your nav cant navigate by stars or it's daytime, just fly in at low altitude till you find it, then keep doing passes while climbing to max height. Again, wait till a gap in the clouds.

When i say do passes. i mean once youve locked up the bullseye looking indicater for the bomb target, soon as you fly over it, you can look back and lock it up again. hope thats helped :s

Thanks everyone for the tips, i'm still trying Vienna flak tower. Always high altitude from the start navigating by the stars and lean+, the enemy fighters can't reach the bomber during the trip, but i always miss the target as i'm a little impacient =P

If your plane is level (Not climbing or descending), you can drop the Grand Slam Bomb with your crosshair at dead center. If your plane is still climbing, you need to release the bomb after the crosshair has passed the target a little bit.I've never drop the bomb while descending so I can't comment on that.

There came a point where I eventually just guessed where the tower was going to be through the clouds after making two passes, and got lucky.

Finally i made it! After +/- 10 bomb runs, and a safe return as the jets did not impose a threat (still they chopped off a engine in the first assault o.o) Thanks everyone!

No it doesn't - start from Medium altitude and start climbing to High when you see the target pop up - the cloud cover should still be light enough to see the target by the time you reach the target.

Be advised the bomb sight is slightly off for this big bomb - you have to drop about 1 second after the target reaches the crosshair.
