Those cats should have a lair. It's pretty annoying to finish progress since they appears pretty randomly.
My advice will be to close/open the game before doing a generation leap. To make predators spawn again.
Thanks for the prompt reply.
According to https://ancestors.fandom.com/wiki/White_Machairodus, the white machairodus only spawns as a stalker cat with no lair, although the wiki could be wrong.
I'll try closing the game before my next few attempts. Hopefully that increases my chances.
Do you remember the biome(s) you encountered it in? I know I have seen them in the past, but I don't remember where it was. At the time, I didn't even know there was a stalker cat. I just thought they were nearby and I aggroed them/they picked up my scent.
After the canyon, it's mostly black one. It's sure. So your settlement need to be in the jungle or the lake area.
But i think the stalker spawn near your camp, so ... (But i'd encounter the golden one far away from my camp when i was exploring.)

I'm not sure if by "close" you mean the program itself or just returning to the title screen, so I'll do the former for now. I'll also try moving my settlement to the oasis you mentioned and see how things go.
I think I once read somewhere that either from the Woodlands or Savanna the stalker cat won't spawn as a white machairodus, so I've been avoiding venturing into and establishing a settlement in any location between the Woodlands and Ocean.

That's really good to know. I can't do anymore evolutionary leaps (I assume it's because I got the final evolution a while back), so that's no longer an option for me. If possible, could you tell me if you know for sure that you got one to spawn after a generational jump? That might give me some hope, since I can still do generational jumps even after unlocking all of the neurons.
I probably wasn't clear enough, but the problem actually isn't that I have never had a white machairodus spawn. I actually encountered multiple early/mid-game (and maybe later as well; I wasn't even aware that there was a stalker cat). My problem seems to be that the stalker cat just isn't spawning anymore, regardless of the color.
My main concern is that I did something, either after getting all the evolutions or all the neurons, that caused the game to stop spawning the SC (or maybe I messed with it by kiting animals very long distances for the astute dominator feats...I'm not sure, this game is far from being glitch-free, and I have had animals--like the centipedes in the "Cave's Secluded Entrance" and the cave near the entrance of the Woodlands--disappear and not respawn even after jumping generations and "fast-forwarding" through the days).
You can remove the intro video from the install folder if you don't want to see then all other again.
The wiki say than jumping a generation respawn the stalker cat. And after the canyon, wiki say than there is mostly black cat.
Right, but there is still ambiguity with the word, and I am trying to pinpoint things as specifically as I can to ensure that I am doing everything possible to get this animal to spawn. Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to argue semantics with you and I appreciate the help, but I just wanted to clarify why I was asking for further precision.
Thanks for letting me know. I noticed that same point on the wiki page I posted, although I found elsewhere on the web a post where a player mentioned that they were uncommon in the Woodlands and Savanna. Who knows? They could be mistaken but so could the wiki. I just hope the dice roll in my favor at some point.
Well, since I can't perform evolutionary leaps anymore, I will keep doing generational jumps after exiting and then re-entering the program. Hopefully I will encounter one while working on my other final evolutionary feat (recruit a hungry outsider).
I played for about an hour and a half today but no dice for either. Fingers crossed something will happen the next time I play.
So unfortunately for you I don't think you're going to get another stalker cat if you have no evos left, and by the sounds of it you would have definitely been stalked by this point if it was going to. I could be wrong, I don't have access to the code, but from my experience SCs do only appear after evo leaps and the unexpected second one just confuses people into assuming it's a generational thing.
Thanks for letting me know. You may very well be right. I finally got my second-to-last feat (recruit a hungry outsider) after playing a few sessions totaling 5 hours or so, but in spite of trying everything I could to get the cat to spawn during this time, it never appeared. I also killed every machairodus I encountered in the jungle, lake, cave and even some of the woodland, but no dice.
I'm glad I got one of the feats at least, but it's too bad I couldn't get this one. Out of curiosity, I reached out to the developer (Panache) and wrote the following:
"Thank you for developing Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey. It's an interesting game with a unique concept, and I've tried to see everything the game has to offer.
I've done everything except the "intimidate a white machairodus" evolutionary feat. From what I have read, your team put a "stalking cat" into the game, and while this can spawn as any machairodus type, only the white one can spawn as the stalking cat. My problem is that I have spent a few hours trying to get it to spawn (moving settlements, changing generations, sleeping for extended periods of time in the wild, etc.) with no success.
So I was wondering if you could tell me what the spawn conditions are for the stalking cat. Does it only spawn after evolutionary leaps (and thus am I locked out because I can't do those anymore), or is there something else I am missing?"
I may never get a response, but if I do, I'll post it here.

Good to know. Thanks for sharing.
It's still better to put your settlement in the jungle biome. The starting area is the area where the 3 stalkers can spawn for sure. (After the first meteorite location)
Anyway, you should come ask on discord : https://discord.gg/Panache
Apologies for the belated reply. I appreciate all of your input and have decided to share some information I received.
The Panache Team got back to me after I contacted them, and this is what they told me:
"Hello,
We’re sorry to answer you so late, this was a very busy month at the studio! First of all, we want to thank you for your kind words. Even if we’re not on Ancestors anymore, it is always appreciated to receive some letters like yours. To answer your question, we took the time to ask to our game designer and we can say that the white machairodus appears mainly in the Woodland and Savannah biome. So we can affirm that it is mainly a geographical condition. We hope that will heal to achieve your last evolutionary feat.!
We wish you the very best,
The Panache Team"
Truth be told, I was pretty burnt out when I last played this game, so I have yet to return and try to complete my final evolutionary feat. I am not sure if I will jump back into the game, but I hope this information proves useful to someone.
Take care!
