Fighting animals?
So I'm trying to work on my tribe with making them fight and such. But I'm having trouble. When ever I run into a snake to attack it. I don't know when or how to attack or anything. I'm still learning the game and I figured out a few things with a few quick restarts. But learning more things helps for sure.

Also as a tip to anybody who still is just starting out. You can make the baby get to the tribe without an adult. I think no animal kills them.

Tip: Don't be afraid to fail at first.

The combat interactions get easier and easier as you develop combat neurons. When you first start out, it's really hard - but even trying and failing will build those neurons.

So keep fighting and failing and use the opportunity to get good at treating your injuries - it will get much easier really quickly as your primate learns how to fight.

How to counter attack: Dodge toward the animal with a weapon of some sort in your right hand. (rock, stick, sharpened stick) It has to be in your right hand and it has to be something that would hurt. Hitting a tiger with a handfull of berries will not kill him.
A sharp stick or rock will do more damage than a dull one.

When to counter attack: Listen for the chime sound. Hold the button to ready the dodge or attack and when the chime sounds release the button. Turn up your volume if needed. Once you've heard it a few times you'll notice it more.
If your ape is tired (the closing eyes effect) you may not hear it.

I didn't even try to attack for a long time which was probably the wrong approach.

But to attack... move toward the predator while holding down the A button on the controller, and release the A button when you hear the chime. Of course you must be holding a rock or a stick of some sort for the attack to be effective.

Snakes and boars are pretty easy to incapacitate at first. With practice and more attack neurons the tigers and other predators will become easier too. I haven't lost an ape to a predator in quite a few generations.
