Oh well. There's plenty in the starting area that I never found and I never even conquered fear in it, I didn't know how to do that either.
Thanks!
But every evolutionary branch has the occasional dead end.
As a beginner, why not call this branch dead and start a new sprout.
If you're getting frustrated tho, I have a series of video tutorials and an in-progress walkthrough on my YT channel right now - channel name is the same as my Steam name, or you can find them by looking around here in the Discussions.
I'm not getting frustrated at all. The game is supposed to not hold your hand or help you out much, though I appreciate the many player made tutorials greatly.
I'll probably go into my save file directory just before every evolution or every 5 generations (whichever is first) and back things up so I don't have to go way, way back if I screw up badly, a (limited) save feature would probably get rid of all the negativity thrown at this game as I can see people getting very angry at losing days worth of time invested, which is probably quite annoying. A limited save feature (at the end of each era only) could even be written into the game's "story" by your hominids making a (very crude to more complex as eras go on) cave painting and this could be a "return point" for people playing on easy difficulties.
But I'm derailing my own thread talking about this.
Thanks for all the help and I'll be sure to check out your walkthrough tutorials.
Edit: Yup I restarted and feel much better for having done so. I have a number of kids (3 I think) two pregnant females and am recruiting new hominids to my clan as I (slowly and deliberately) explore.
I actually played through with my original clan, although I did start a second new clan at one point. When the second clan died out I realized my first clan wasn't in such bad shape after all and returned to that one. From there it was easy sailing.
There's no outsider's even in the first starter area? I remember there being a few.
