that stalker cat sucks
Geeeeez..... First of all I was on an expidition, my clan kept getting attacked and then I noticed I kept getting attacked by the same cat all the way across the entire map. Since I was on expidition I can't find where my old settlement was and now I can't make a new one.. all my clan is dead and I still can't start a new settlement because I can't build a bed because that dang cat won't go away.

I'm new to the game, this is maybe my 5th time starting over but.. c'mon man! Cat seems a bit extreme. I can't fight back yet.

Get out of here stalker!

You're not intended to travel long distances along the ground until you've unlocked some of the movement and combat evolutions. If you kill the stalker cat then it won't spawn again in a wide area until you pass generations. You can avoid it completely by staying in the trees or remaining near the first oasis, where it cannot spawn.

Just pick up a rock and smack it in the face with it. You'll almost certainly lose the fight and get injured, but the time travelling predator will leave you alone for a bit.

the stalker cat is programmed to appear every time you are on the ground, it is very immersion breaking, and a cheap attempt to artificially make the game harder. i like this game, but this mechanic sucks.

As Croak says, it's supposed to keep you from wandering too far until you're ready. Every game ever designed has a gating system to keep you on track. This is Ancestors' gating system.

At a certain point it *stops* being an issue (when you've leveled up enough).

If you're seeing it constantly, you're pushing yourself too hard - fall back and regroup.

As far as I can see it's not meant to be something to stop you from wandering too far. You can find more information here: https://ancestors.gamepedia.com/Golden_Machairodus#:~:text=The%20stalker%20cat%20is%20randomly,or%20complete%20an%20evolution%20leap.

I didn't even notice there is anything special about this stalker cat when I first played. I just kind of dodged it's attacks and otherwise ignored it and later in the game I would just scare it off, like I did with pretty much every other animal.

Thanks for the info everyone. I think this lineage is dead, no way I'm gonna make it back to base on the other side of the map. Lutyi pizdec, kurwa

The lineage isn't dead just the hominid you are playing. Let your guy die and see what happens it swaps to the next guy in your clan. If you have 6 babies no worries just do a generation jump and move on with the new adults.

What ever it's function it's too excessive and if it happens too frequently i end up putting the game on hold.

I made it back to base and now I can sharpen sticks. I'm taking some revenge. I didn't read any guides or anything so I'm being slow about things I guess. Thank you again everyone

What really sucks about the cat is the fact that you can't track it with your senses. It appears whenever it wants to, runs away almost immediately and survives my sticks until it looks like a giant porcupine.
That's to be expected from a primate's most dangerous foe, though. Makes the kill much more satisfying.
