At a certain point it *stops* being an issue (when you've leveled up enough).
If you're seeing it constantly, you're pushing yourself too hard - fall back and regroup.
I didn't even notice there is anything special about this stalker cat when I first played. I just kind of dodged it's attacks and otherwise ignored it and later in the game I would just scare it off, like I did with pretty much every other animal.
The lineage isn't dead just the hominid you are playing. Let your guy die and see what happens it swaps to the next guy in your clan. If you have 6 babies no worries just do a generation jump and move on with the new adults.
That's to be expected from a primate's most dangerous foe, though. Makes the kill much more satisfying.
