The time is annoyingly fast. Hours go by in minutes.
Can I alter the speed in which the time moves in game?
How on earth am I supposed to do anything when I can't get far before I have to return to sleep? Or am I just too stupid to understand something

I absolutely agree with you. I have the feeling that the clan is only dragging from the source of food to the next source of food, when everyone is finally full it is evening ... the feeling comes to be rushed

You don't have to return to your base if you don't want.
You can sleep everywhere (I recommend some high place like a tree so you'll be safe from predators). Also you can build that thing (I don't know its name 'cause I'm not english) to evolve your monke.

just dont sleep for 3 days, there is no side effect besides an occasional blink.

you don't have to go back to the base? Does your family feed on their own?

Your clan will not starve nor die of dehydration regardless of how much time passes, even if they're not inside your settlement. You can just hold A to lie down and sleep if your primary hand is empty.

^Note you can sleep in trees this way - much safer than sleeping on the ground. Find a nice V spot between trunks/branches and sleep there.

I don't know how it works, but I never cared if they ate or drink water and they never died because of that.

I did a test. I order all to follow me and go to the dessert zone. I was starving and dehydrated. I checked how where the others and they were fine.

So don't worry, you can be out a long time.

The accelerated time dilation is probably because there just isn't much to do besides eating, drinking, and sleeping. If you slowed down time, you'd very quickly realise that the game doesn't really have much content. If the clock was realtime it would be feasible to explore the entire map in a single in-game day, and get at least half of the evolutionary feats in the process. They're relying on this constant eat/drink/sleep loop to give you something to do.

To offset this, the individual monkey you manually control is the only creature in the whole game that needs to eat, drink, or sleep. Your tribe will imitate you if you're nearby, but they have no basic survival needs. You only need to tend to your own survival needs, or fix a monkey friend if they're bleeding. They will happily sit around doing nothing whilst bleeding, and eventually die of it. I found after a while I'd just come back to base every 3-10 in-game days or so, just to touch butts and make babies.

Imagine how it would play for 10 000 000 years up to real time 😉

It's a lifestyle like my cats...wake up, eat, nap, eat, sleep, repeat.

Ate two coconuts. Spent half a day. Hakuna matata :)
this is a dilemma in every game with a time system, how do you make a accurate time system without making it an actual day long? its something that probably wont be fixed by games for a long time

that's really easy
let the Players decide with a option to set an own timescale

From a programming standpoint it's pretty much the farthest thing from "really easy".
