Also, I'm not sure need for sleep decreases the size of the green circle much. I'm pretty good about keeping it full and get the closing eyes thing when my ape has been active for quite a while.
I wish there was a way to bring up the 3 circles you get when you wake up in the morning so you'd know how low you are on each.
I usually just sleep, eat, and drink till I stop getting the yellow pulses in the circle that indicate improvment.
The white haze is something else.
I never noticed it on my younger clan members - only started seeing it by year 5 or so.
I still think it's an age thing.
Even if the circle seems full, your ape might be tired.
If you are unsure, just lie down and sleep for a second, then see how much sleep you need.
^^^^ this
The help menu says the circle has nothing to do with sleep, food, water. It has everything to do with your hominids stamina.
My experience has been that:
Dimming, black bars at the top and bottom of the screen are tired. I read that the white flash may indicate hunger.
One sip won't quench thirst, one piece of fruit won't fill you up, and 30 seconds of sleep won't make you rested.
My indicator on if I've slept enough in game is that the dream images go away.
If I've drank enough, when the clan/tribe around me stop drinking, enough water has been consumed.
You can over eat and there is an indicator about that, meaning I've eaten enough.
