For example - eating *one bite* of a mushroom will cure some stomach ailments, but eating it on a healthy stomach will *cause* a stomach ailment.
For meat - you need to cook stuff that's giving you a bad reaction.
Also, you can get an RNG bad reaction sometimes from eating stuff that's usually okay. This is you eating a "green or rotten" fruit for example. There's no way to tell it's green or rotten before you eat it, it's just Random.
Yes you build tolerance.
You get sick, but its the only way.
You'll notice when you eat more of different foods you'll unlock the "Omivore" status.
You dont start off as an omnivore, you start off as a forager that can only eat berries and roots.
Curing yourself by diluting the stomach ache also increases experience. I gained a tolerance to mushrooms by curing my indigestion through water.
