Pebberley Island DLC
I obtained the first star of the DLC's first mission and even though it's fun, it's still mostly a "classic" hospital. I will see later if it gets more interesting somehow when completing the next 2 stars.

I didn't play much of the second mission but I already love it. It's so cool and unique to have an outdoor hospital without any walls/doors surrounding it. But it's not just that, the way the mission works makes the hospital slowly expand (I was expecting trees to walk away to free plots or something like that though instead of the usual animation making them disappear). The expansion of the hospital "forces" the player to move/adapt rooms to keep a good layout since what was the edge of the hospital quickly becomes the middle of it without being just another available "building".

The objective system being tied to the expansion makes it a rather unique hospital with many different objectives. Again, I will see with time if it stays interesting but for now it's refreshing. :)

What do you think of the DLC so far ?

Having a lot of trouble with the first hospital. The high number of storms is causing a lot of damage my janitors are having trouble keeping up.

Restarted a couple of times already.

I have three starred the first hospital and on to the second, it sounds interesting by your comments Freiya!

The first hospital is basic with objectives, but the layout, different type of weather events, and the interesting plots with the cabins ones make it new and refreshing to me.

I don't like the hot maps, as much of the cold but it is great them combating this with a new object (an iced pineapple) which replaces the air con unit. Although it is very OP. (in my opinion)

Yeah, using the Ice Sculpture feels almost like cheating. This mission must be way harder with only aircon units. :p

@Jonathan J. O'Neill Surprisingly I didn't have many issues with disasters, I just kept my hospital relatively small with more janitors than usual (7 of them when I got my first star). I also like the fact that they are untrained since they are cheaper that way.

I was roleplaying a bit with the janitors. They said something about Wiggy where "he would give any sod a job" or something like that. So I just hire each one lol.

I have 68 janitors now haha.

ooh I am doing the 1st hospital with Air con!! and 12 janitors so far to keep up . .. need to find this ice sculpture!
Ive expanded x3 plots and got 1 star almost at my second!
You have to buy it with Kudosh. Can get it as soon as you start the map, No need to do anything else to unlock it.

I had a doctor's appointment this morning, but I just need to train 4 more janitors to get my first star in Pebberly Reef. I'm already having fun and looking forward to the challenge of making such a spread-out layout workable. Have three buildings with tentative builds drawn out on paper, but the hospital is in a good place to let my staff level up their skills before continuing to expand (or when I get sick of sending DNA patients home XD).

Overgrowth sounds awesome! Makes me even more excited to get there, though it will be a while since I prefer 3-starring hospitals before moving on. I did see the ice sculpture, but keeping the air conditioners will help level up those poor student janitors faster. I have 8 so far, but I'm only hiring ones with decent traits, like I do in other "student" maps.

So at least at the moment, even though I prefer cold maps, I'm liking the Pebberly Island DLC even better than Bigfoot.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for the orange colored patients diagnosed with fake tan. Worth the price of the dlc on my opinion.

Aside from the inability to rename a Carnivorous Plant "Audrey II" my only frustration with the Pebberley items so far is the Fridge -- are staff putting their lunches, snacks, and sodas in there, or is it just decorative? It's not in the Food & Drink filter which suggests it doesn't help hunger or thirst, but the dev's filter-tagging's been a bit haphazard (there are some new wall pictures not included in the Picture filter, for example).

I didn't even know the ice sculpture worked as aircon. Interesting.

The first hospital is a real chore. I didn't have any fun in it all the problems of the base game are just in your face the entire time. All the weird diagnosis shenanigans coupled with the super heavy RNG of recruiting staff and the absurd amount of "natural" disasters make for a very tedious experience.

I 3 starred it at last and I'm glad to move on.

The second hospital is the most fun I've had in the entire game I'd say. The way you unlock plot is a very interesting concept and I hope they make a new game mode based on that idea with randomized objective and plot size/shape. That would be super fun.

Also the fact that you are in outdoor allows for very original pathing to your rooms as anyone can essentially go in and out of the "hospital" to access any other part of it since there's no invisible wall or anything. Also the new diseases there are very funny. The parrots are adorable and the escape room disease is hilarious and it's nice to see a machine so ridiculously huge that you really need to plan out where you can put it (9x5 size is no joke).

I really hope this DLC was partly ways to experiment with future content for the game that ties everything together. A new game mode with replay-value.

An issue I didn't expect with the second hospital is that since the goal of the mission is to expand, it's overall necessary to have more janitors there too since they have to cover more ground (to clean things from disasters). The hospital can become quite big, that's definitely a great mission. It's just too bad they didn't include some kind of refiling fire extinguisher since it's necessary to have a lot.

I just unlocked the last mission and it's great too !
When I saw in the description of the DLC "big groups (we’re calling them ‘waves’) of sickly sightseers will be turning up all at once" I was expecting some kind of special emergencies (bigger or more frequent). However, it's more than that (you will see when you get there :p). This makes it a very unique mission too that doesn't really work like the rest of the game which is amazing and what I wanted from DLCs. If they release another DLC I hope they will go even further than that.

I didn't obtain all stars yet but it's definitely much better than Bigfoot in my opinion. ^^

Now I'm excited!

A refilling fire extinguisher would be a neat reward for a 3 stars catastrophic hospital. I can't wait to see the last hospital too! But first I need to 3 stars Overgrowth.

Even if the hospitals were meh the only fact that we keep having new content for two point radio is worth it. I'd pay the price of the DLC for the radio update alone, it's just so funny.

I 3 starred Overgrowth, quite easily actually. It was easy but in a good way, as in quite peaceful and I felt in control which was a nice change of pace. It's fun to tackle objectives in the order you want and being forced to do 25 mini objectives in a row to 3 stars is quite a neat concept even though some objectives are quite free.

The last level is certainly unique. I just tried the first wave of patients to see how it works and the gimmick actually does force you to think your strategy extremly carefully. I assume if you fail to meet the objective you game over and have to restart the hospital ? I've also noticed an element of the previous DLC popping in this one which was quite interesting (a big wave of ghosts).

I really feel this DLC is testing ground for the developers to create new game modes. 2 of the 3 hospitals essentially feel like you are playing a different game mode and they are both really fun. I hope we see more of that (and in new game modes for all hospitals or at least a few that would be super cool). And even though I liked Bigfoot I have to say this DLC is really high quality.
My only surprise is how low-key the new treatment rooms are. So far I've been forced only to use the very first one, the second one is semi-optional (I guess you can skip it entirely if you really want to) and I have yet to see traces of the third one. I guess it's nice to give choice to the player but it's still surprising not to see more of them.
Freiya Mar 19, 2019 @ 3:51pm
I didn't fail a wave yet but I am assuming that if you fail one it will just trigger a new one. The biggest issue at first is to make money but now I am at wave 8 with almost 1 Million $. I think from this point the difficulty will be to process the increasing amount of patients fast enough. If you need to expand I recommend buying the plot right next to the hospital (number 9 I think). I thought it was another building but it's actually an expansion of the main building.

Surprisingly the last treatment room is just given to the player at some point during the mission but it's just a basic treatment room like the others.

I didn't have any ghosts wave on my side, only the usual "natural" disasters from the DLC. Oo
