Game crashing my PC with tab-outs.
I have found out that my game doesn't like to be minimized or tabbed out of. I CAN use Alt-Tab to switch over to my Google Chrome (which is where I currently have TIPS waiting for me to help me defeat Duckworth) but two things are happening.

1- When I do tab-out and TPH minimizes, I can still hear the music. The music does not mute when TPH is minimized, which I find unusual even if not that big a deal.
2- My ENTIRE COMPUTER crashes.

It seems I can play the game for HOURS on end with no ill effects... as long as TPH is the ONLY thing i'm doing. If I want to tab out to check up tips on the forum, or just to take a little break and check facebook, TPH seems to get a bit angry and crashes my computer. It's like a jealous partner throwing a fit... "Fine if you won't pay attention to just me, you can't use your computer at all!"

I don't know what to do here except to have TPH, and only TPH, running on my PC. This is just extremely inconvenient and i'm always worried for the health of my computer when I have crash issues.

Edit: Don't know if it matters, but i'm using a Windows 10 PC

That's weird, I can alt-tab to something else, do other things for hours (even something like World of Warcraft because I would forget to close down TPH), tab back to this game and it would still be fine for me.

What are your PC-specs?
Are you running anything else requiring a lot of your CPU/memory?

Not sure where to find PC Specs ^-^;; I like gaming, but i'm not super informed on the tech side of things. All I had open was Google Chrome, with like 3 tabs open, one of which was my other forum post where i'm ranting about Duckworth, and I had it open so I could re-read the tips I was given.

I do know i've had my PC for a long time, it originally came with Windows Vista installed and I upgraded to Windows 10 as soon as it was available.

Your computer originally came with Vista and it still runs the game under W10? I find that interesting.

No matter, if your computer runs the game fine for hours and doesn't crash (until you alt tab) then I guess it's good enough.

At any rate, just to be sure, can you visit the website linked below then and follow the instructions so you can see whether or not your hardware passes the test or not? Because you seem to have an unique issue I haven't seen here before.

By the way, music/sound still playing while muted isn't unique for the game, it is the case for multiple games so it isn't THAT unusual. :)

I spent a couple of hours really cleaning my PC. Got rid of a bunch of old programs clogging up the works. I'm no longer experiencing crashes with tab-outs. Thanks for trying to help me out, I think the reminder of how old my computer really is, is what kick started me into cleaning up my PC. I'm having improved performance overall, not just with TPH.

Have you tried borderless window? Tabbing out with BW usually works better than tabbing out of full screen as it keeps the game windowed and maximized. Other windows will just pop up in front of it. Looks just like fullscreen but behaves like a window.

If you wanna try that, use the parameter -popupwindow in the launch parameters of the game via Steam. Right click game, choose properties and then launch options.

Then go in game and set the game to windowed mode.

I know you fixed the issue but it might help futureproof for you.

If your windows crashed because you alt tab out of a game, you probably installed tons of stuff that destabilized your OS. Might want to try windows repair. Or just a complete reinstall.

I uninstalled things like software from a printer I no longer have, an emulator that stopped working well like last year, and software from Apple that never worked on my windows PC anyway. I think those files were really messing with my computer because that and a couple old games, smaller files, are all I removed, but my performance is lightyears better. I just haven't needed this sort of performance power, using my PC for youtube and netflix, but once I discovered STEAM that changed haha no more lag (I need to be better about keeping my computer tidied up)
