Does anyone else think there are too many virals?
It seems like whenever you do anything, you are immediately swarmed with virals which 1. is incredibly annoying due to their broken pounce attack which normally results in aiden sitting on his ass for the majority of most fights and 2. Really inaccurate to the lore? The game is meant to be way after the start of the outbreak so you'd think there would be heaps less fresh infected. Just wondering what other people think

I get sick of the random ones and the ones summoned by, as far as I know, modded melee weapons. Explosions, gunfire, and actually freshly turned due to infected knives etc are fine. If you are just running around or only melee fighting, it really shouldn’t be summoning them imo.

I've had some spawn in after punching the ground with my bare fists, that was after waiting still for a few mins to make sure they didn't spawn because of anything else lol

In the beginning I thought it was annoying because I'd get swarmed, but after a bit into the game you get strong enough to oneshot them so it's not too bad. Need those materials they drop anyways. But yea I also thought there were too many. Easily triggered. In DL1 they were attracted by explosions only, not just hitting enemies with your melee.

man honestly, you're gonna be thankful with the amount of virals which spawn with how much viral samples are required for upgrades xD

I started to appreciate the way virals spawn because I need the trophy they drop.

I play the game normally and I already have 9999 scraps in my inventory, whereas other common tier mats sit at only 1 thousand. I agree it’s way too many of them.

There are also tons of them at explorable indoors such as apartments in Old Villedor, making it not worth the time to go inside for loot. Not to mention Forsaken Stores. I’m not venturing out at night for all those scraps. Now I always go to Dark Hollows. Money is always useful. Besides, Random Encounter can spawn at Dark Hollows. Not only good for bounties, but also good for farming exp and mats.

At the start, when you're just getting into the game, yes, certainly, but in the mid-to-late game it's bordering on "About damn time, come to papa!" because I'm running low on trophies and cash.

I use that to craft consumables like throwing knives and molotovs and such. Always run out haha. Never enough scrap metal.

Yeah, in DL1 you feared them and it was hard to escape, sometimes you had to stop and uv them. But now, its just some random enemy. It doesnt even make sense to try to hide, because while you flee one, another 3 already sighted you. There are also no hiding spots.. zombies are everywhere.

The other thing, at night, Volatile's can't see you through the grass that has fireflies, but the Viral's, they can see you perfectly fine, so if you're hiding in the grass next to a Volatile, and a Viral spots you, you're screwed. Pretty trash imo, but I doubt that'll be changed, having Viral's not be able to see you through grass that is.

Funny thing with that is sometimes its like the viral AI "spots" you but the game is like "nuh uh im in the stealth grass you cant see me!" and then the viral proceeds to start running into you but not detecting you until you do something lol

Yeah, in which, if I do move once the Volatile is kind of away, the Viral will just grab me, putting me in a QTE, and then you'll get caught.

Less about combat, but I agree that their number are too much, as well as how easily they detect and find you.

I started a new game after being away for a long time and can't move two rooftops with out one of them screaming and calling zombies to attack me. Can't get into the smallest fight or anything, with out getting swarmed.

If they held off until after you get through the starting part of the city, I could understand, as you would be better equipped and able to handle it, but so close to the start is a bit ridicules. It kills the game for new players and those who may be returning after a long period away.

I stopped after an hour of play, getting frustrated with it. Haven't even tried at night, when the Volatiles are present too. Not really encouraged to buy future products at this point. A shame too, as I love DL1 and played it several times.
you'd think deathsquads of people roaming the cities with advanced strategies and UV lights, and armor would lower the numbers
aiden alone kills thousands daily
