How bad is weapon degradation?
I. Hate. Weapondegradation.
It's one of the worst things dying light one had, because it basicly punishes you for playing the game.
So how bad is it in Dying light 2?

i'd call it even worse cause there doesn't seem to be a way to repair your weapon i think
WayneX Mar 9, 2022 @ 9:38am
only way of repairing is by installing mods. when you install a mod in a slot weapon gets repaired by an amount. that's really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ cuz if you straight up fully mod a weapon you wont be able to repair it at all

There are game 'mods', obtainable from the Nexus. I'm using one of these because I think weapons break way too easily in this game...

You can infinitely repair weapons with the korek charm, so that entire part of the game is trivialized.

There is a hidden "charm" found mid game that adds +500 durability to any weapon capable of being modded. This charm can be added / removed restoring any item to max health.. so you can cheese it from mid game onwards.. otherwise weapons break faster than the Russian army did

It is only a problem in the beginning of the game. Eventually your weapons last a long time and you have a ton of great weapons available pretty much always.

Nope, they just smashed that up same with the Grappling Hook, so that’s all gone now.

Now it costs 666 scrap to fix a weapon, even though max durability on weapons isn’t the 500 repair.

It’s literally not worth even chasing after the charm anymore. Some reward, you can’t even use it to kept your favorite weapon until the next in good condition.

Can’t believe I wasted so much time with this PoS game.

Thats strange. The repair system in Dying Light 1 was just fine? Game seemed to have a pretty good balance of how fast weapon degraded, without being too annoying about it.

this is why it mkaes me feel the same team did not make this game or they are purposelessly going out of there way to ruin the game and make it far to grindy (tho dont get me wrong i also got a no degradation mod from nexes on my weapons. they always made them go to sh!t far to fast. some i can understand when there a baisc 4x4 or such but not bats or metal bats..

Once you upgrade the durability mod your weapons last a long time. Weapon durability is no big deal at all.

Still I am not sure why a cheat item needed to be changed though. Some people like cheating. Let them. Don't need to nerf it.

thats how i look at it then again why even give a option of losing a weapon since i find weapon degradation is always far to quick in most cases

If you did not like it in DL1, you will HATE it in DL2 as they kinda doubled down on "your weapon WILL break". Since this is an "RPG" now, you have different weapon item levels so it's never an issue at the start of the game because you have a constant feed of new weapon rewards. However, come late/end game that changes a little as you get fewer quest rewards and your only source of good weapons are from high level crates. There is a developer item that will repair your weapon but it got nerfed and now costs 666 scrap to repair. The max you can carry is 999 plus an extra stack of 999 in your stash. This is also a looting game so you going to spend a TON of time just straight up scavenging for scrap...
