blood pouring out of dismembered limbs leave NOTHING on the ground, the blood just magically evaporates instantly. this is such a basic feature for an typical gore system, it's clear they didn't even want to bother.
it's what happens to every small company once they become big enough
You can clearly see it just looking at the graphics and options. Tons of DOF, few adjustable graphical settings, missing features like manual save/keybindings, etc.
This a sign of them focusing on consoles first rather than PC. Which mean they had to "downgrade" the graphics for consoles. So less gore.
The bloody skin in DL1 was a great idea to represent HP. I don't get why they cut that out, same with the physics... zombies fall to the ground with 0hp sometimes and the world kills them afterwards. In DL1 they either collapsed in ragdoll instantly or went into a fitting death animation. Also the way ragdolls are in DL2. Most of the time enemies fly away instead of a realistic fall-over or kick into ragdoll. The first person animations as well... in DL1 they looked more fluent with more attention to detail... you could wait for the 2nd swing left to right, Crane would move his arms back to the right side slowly and if you decide to hit, the animation started dynamically at that point, same with him reacting to zombies by lifting his weapon.
All of those systems just feel rushed with no attention to detail or how combat feels, unlike in DL1. In DL1, Crane grabbed the items and in DL2 the items warp to the same loot animation.
