Is Ray Tracing worth it?
Digital Foundry said RT in the game is amazing and changes a lot of buildings and things, but man, I got a 2060 Super and it'll eat my frames if I turn on RT, I might get 30 FPS with DLSS and ray tracing on, it just doesn't seem worth it to give up 60 FPS, I guess I don't really need 60 FPS. I was going to play without RT on since you really need like a 30XX series card to get decent FPS with RT on. In DF's video they show RT differences, and it does look pretty good with it on.

This is mainly an action game so most of the time I wont enable Ray Tracing unless I'm playing the medium type of games. So no in my opinion it's not worth it in an action game like this as long as it still looks decent and runs good.

With 2060 is raytracing not worth, if you enjoy smooth 60 fps gameplay of course. If you don't mind lower frames, you might enable one or two things

Enable DLSS.

it looks absolute fantastic with raytracing, i would say yes... its the first game where raytracing really matters in terms of lightning...

but it kills the FPS like usual...

these are truely nextgen graphics...

Skillup reviewed it with a 2080ti and had to turn rt off for a smooth experience.

Fair argument, but they really are saying that RT makes a huge difference in visuals, atmosphere, shadows, lighting, really just anything visually. Once I get in the game I'll just have to mess with the settings, I am a stickler for 60 FPS though, just figured a lot of people don't have 30XX series cards, so was wondering what settings they were going to use or focus on? You could use RT but I doubt you'll get more than 30-40 FPS if you're lucky.

this guide explains that only a 3080-3090 can handle RTX... if you just turn everyting on ultra even a 3090 is at 40 fps... people have to understand that some of the features here are for next gen GPUs...

3070 Ti and with the 3 Ray Tracing options at the bottom (starting with ambient occlusion) on I get 60-ish FPS in the beginning forest bit. With those off I get far more, but I leave shadow and flashlight ray-tracing on.

On 1080p with DLSS Quality btw. These 3 options completely obliterate my frames https://i.imgur.com/Eix27ag.png but leaving them on High and everything else maxed it goes back to enjoyable.

I still don't see a Ray Tracing option. Is it bundled with the DLSS setting? (3090)
Mord Feb 3, 2022 @ 5:14pm
I can maintain over 60 fps with it, but only sun shadows and lighting. If I enable it for all options it tanks to a 52 fps average. (3070 3900x) - this with DLSS at quality on a 1440p monitor.

in the advanced graphics options (hit F in the regular graphics options), try cycling with Q and E

You need to enable renderer mode DX12 (Ultimate) to have ray tracing available

dlss?

Once you reach the main city, it's literally unplayable with ray tracing. My 2080 Super with DLSS on Performance only runs at 10-15fps. Had to disable ray tracing there.

The intro / tutorial areas were running around 30-45fps and looked pretty good. Still too laggy though.

Did you set the game to DX12 Ultimate and then restart it? The game doesn't enable ray tracing the first time it loads, so you have to restart. A lot of people are playing the intro at 100fps and thinking ray tracing is enabled.
