I would say that a normal paced (not a speed run) playthrough should be 4.5-6 hours long. It can get up to 7-8 if you take it slow, explore, experiment, read EVERYTHING, check every corner, and it can even get longer if you are really bad at it. :P
But yes, there are speedrunners who can finish the game in 2 hours or even a little bit less. If that's their thing - that's totally cool. Maybe we could make a speedrunning competition one day? ;)
I hope that answers your question.
It does, thank you.
Any plans to add more content down the line?
It will alter some of the existing content.
After that we will see what we can do =)
i'm not an expert player - only average - but 5 hours playtime seems very short to me.
p.s: some weapons are way overpowered. e.g. the chainsaw and the sniper laser (with poison) is unbeatable. hopefully the game will be more balanced in the future. ;)
I'm 4 hours in and I can't get past the second stage, so I got my moneys worth.
Only thing that sucks is I can't find an online match.
I can't find an online match either. I hope it isn't another bug
My thoughts exactly. My playtime was 2-3 hours. There wasn't any insentive for me to read the lore on the computers. If I read the lore like you did, it might add an extra hour.
But the focus is on how many times we went into the city and how freaking short the levels were it was. I didn't use any of the shops either and I thought we would come back to them? I simply don't understand why the town is so large if we weren't going to use it. I thought as well that when i was done with a level, or at any time, i would be able to go back to the town.
so many potential bcoz the city is very well designed and big enough. maybe there will be released some DLC's so that the city contains more quests (beside the main story).
Hey man, I just want to say something. I'm not trying to be mean, but I feel it needs to be said.
This game is the biggest letdown for me since Fable 1.
You have an incredible art style, simply spectacular.
You have loveable characters.
You created an interesting world.
Now here are my issues. For starters, WAY too short given the price. Second, absolutely no replayability. Third, after playing for about 20 minutes, you've basically experienced all there is to do. Very repetitive. Fourth, the actual gameplay itself is very underwhelming.
If this is your first foray into making games, then I say it's an excellent first try and I look forward to future projects. But if this is par for the course for all future games, it makes me lose some faith in the indie games, which have been the saving grace in gaming for the past 5 years.
I'd really love it if you guys made a sequel to this game that expands on the game world. I can see this being an amazing RPG. Add some NPCs to talk to for world building. Add an open world, or at least less INSANELY linear.
I say these things because I see so much potential and I want to see you/your team do better.
Hey Antagonist,
It's cool to hear that you compare Tower 57 even to a production like fable.
In direct comparison it's a small indie endeavour crafted by a core-team of just 2 people and with the help of 11 Bit Studios as a publisher who handles Q&A and some other aspects.
It's also the first game we are doing on our own.
I don't know if you tried the last update, but the current plan is to improve the structure of all levels and a lot of Enemy AI and a whole lot of additional little stuff.
We gathered a lot of constructive feedback and working hard on implementing a whole lot of it to provide the best experience we possibly can. We already tried to make the canal less linear and provide backtracking.
More updates certainly will follow.
Dumbest answer in this thread. Comparing going out to eat with purchasing a game is as retarded as you are.
