How to not feel overwhelmed by the amount to do
This game's play area is so huge and there is the constant need to rebuild what you have how on earth do you not feekl completely overwhelmed? especially if play time is limited and it takes ages to do anything

Make small goals and focus on those. Everything else will come later and in due time. Don't try to juggle 10 things at once. Write down your goals if you need to, try and only have a few active ones at a time. Every once in a while you can take a break from building and explore the map a bit. Mark areas you think would be good factories, collect resources, etc. Helps with future planning.

I don'[t have much play time available. At this ratre it will be 2026 before i get anywhere which is depressing

You see Youtube videos proclaiming 700 hours of play. That's 30 days non stop play time which is not doable by most i'm sure.
At one hour of play time a day it means almost 2 years to get to that stage for most.
Not realistic imho

Rebuilding is purely an aesthetical choice.

No there's not, there's no need for that at all. Sure it can be useful to do so, but at the same time it's also not too hard to calibrate and adjust your machines later on, for example using overclocking and/or somersloops.

I never rebuild my main base, but did expand on it by using more iron & copper nodes around it, and that time also using blueprints.

Easy: take it one step at a time. Don't try to look at the "what if's" but just focus on the here and now. Once that's out of the way use what you have to make the new target work.

The game even accounts for this by having space elevator goals depend on multiple tiers, so that you can basically focus on one at a time.

You don't need 700 hours to finish the final phase, not even close (if that is even your goal). You also have a few advanced options to make the game a lot easier (like ignoring power requirements or building costs). It all depends on what you want out of this game. But you always have to keep in mind that not every game is good for everyone. If you have very limited game time some games are just a bad fit, like most online games, especially MMORPGs.

If you want to play fast, then this game is not really the right choice.

It is, by nature and design, a long term project about building the same things over and over again but with the intrinsic motivation to do it well and efficient, and choices about where to to build and how to get the stuff from one machine to the other.

Since they completely forgot to add any kind of difficulty options or map settings, they run into exactly the problem you describe:

Some people have a lot of time and want to spend a lot of time in the game, and complain it is to small/quick and others do not have so much time and investment into the game, and think it's to complex and complicated.

I will never understand games that just don't add difficulty and customization options.
There is a shooter game, called "Ready Or Not" which suffers exactly from the same problems, getting people on both sides of the spectrum to complain.
Just adding difficulty options would solve all their problems too.

No idea why this isn't a thing anymore in so many games today.

But what would you have as the difficulty in a game like this? make machines work slower? reduce purity of nodes? that doesn't make the game harder just tedious

That is why you would be able to set it as a player.
If you think it's tedious, change the settings at game creation.

You can alwys argue it is tedous, because right now it is also tedious for many player.
In the end, the whole game loop of Satisfactory is tedious, because it is a repetition of the same thing over and over again.

And the designers of the game put values in they think are right for the majority. But they cannot be right for everyone, by necessity. They are a compromise to that they cover as many player as possible.

If you want your machines to run slower you are already free to under-clock them.

Have a blast!

Want a challenge? Make a rule for yourself that no machine can run above 25%.

It can be a bit overwhelming. You want to build some Xs. But to do that will required building some Ys and Zs. And you have to get the Ys and Zs to where the Xs will be. As others have said you just have to break it down into small projects and do your best to not think about the long road ahead.

Heck it happened to me for version 1.0. I last played during Update 7 and had a save with 500 hours which had almost no time sitting overnight to grind out items or tickets. When I started my version 1.0 save all I could think about was all the work I had to re-do. Road and train building at the top of the list of "this is going to be a lot of work, again."

My best advice, do what you enjoy. Don't worry too much about the rest. And if you start feeling anxious (or whatever) when considering the tasks ahead. Take a break. It is only a game and the entire idea is to have fun.

IMO compared to Factorio or DSP this game does a good job of not overwhelming me. I'm a milestone tier 5 right now, building up my oil/plastics and it's huge, but it's manageable. You don't have to automate everything, I do some parts manually or set up a storage / constructor or factory / storage line where I put the parts in manually (like for the annoying space elevator). If it's too much, you can always leave the game running for 2 hours and have tons of materials, at least after you get coal.

What works for me is using signs to set up a to-do list.

I'll add 6 or 7 bits of a project that I can usually take in any order, just in case I am not feeling like doing something.

Also, blueprints you can tile. It's a lot less work to connect a couple belts and power lines between bp's then it is to build the whole thing from scratch. I generally set mine up as an entry point, the middle section, and an end point which has storage, a dimensional depot, and a sink to take overflow.

I focus on small pieces at a time - you'll blink and realize you've more than half way there.
