Do some research tiers in the MAM, explore a bit and you might find the awnser on how to remove the rock. Mark it on the map and come back later when you got the tier unlocked to deal with the rock problem.

By stone do you mean a boulder?
That requires something with a bang as others have said.
The other "stones" that could be there you can hand mine off of them.

As others have said, you need to stumble across some sulphur, it's all stashed where you'll likely come across in on your adventures.

But... you can still use portable miners, it's where I got my first few hundred Caterium from. Stick a few of those down and come back later. Yeah you have to carry it manually but you'll easily get enough to do your research with. You just put them _around_ the big stones that are blocking you.

Also remember you can build a MAM anywhere and they're pretty cheap. So you could build one right next to your little portable-miner farm to make things much easier and perhaps save a few trips.

If you press (E) and interact with the "stones" which are globules of metal or stone on top of the node, a hand chisel will appear in your hand and whack away at it, do that till it's gone and then build your miner on it.

Don't listen to those who say to use explosives (Nobelisk) it wouldn't work, and they are obvious pranking you because you are new to the game and it shows. Happy Pioneering!

As Fenix mentioned- there are boulders on a few of the mineral deposits. and those boulders- usually big, round and covered in cracks- need to go boom and cannot be cleared without some research in the MAM. The stones you are talking about are covering a significant amount of the mineral areas.

Those are not spherical but jagged and give that prompt to mine them away manually. So it is good and right to mention that- but you are wrong about people trolling and there are no rocks that need boom.

OP- if the rock has a prompt to mine by pressing 'E', you should do that. If it is a big spherical and cracked boulder do your research.

My point is, you aren't stuck just with manual mining. If a resource is blocked and a miner won't fit on until you blow up the blockage, you can still plop down some portable miners, which is much, much quicker than doing it by hand. They also keep working while you're gone. And they're very cheap to make.

This helped when the only nearby caterium was blocked with a boulder, until I later found some sulphur, even further out, and developed Nobelisks to finally blow up the blocking boulder.
