Death means all inventory gone?
I fell off a cliff trying to go down on vines, not far from my hub. I was surrounded by spiders that killed me. When I respawn all my work was gone. 200 cables, 200 iron pods, 300 iron plates, 500 screws!! Screw me ! I trried to load autosaves but inventory stayed empty. Screws me to redo 500 screws and the rest. Any solution to this?

Go find your death crate.
Svennen Sep 13, 2024 @ 12:13am
Well you are clearly new, it's not like you lost much, but you can go to where you died and just loot your corpse to get it all back ?

Options -> Gameplay. Somewhere in there is a setting to not lose anything on death.

Or, y'know, don't die :P

That's really not much. After a few hours you'll have litterally thousands of any of these resources.
Start exploring after you have built your production lines, while your machines are producing.

Yeah, by default you drop your inventory, and have to go get it back, kinda like Elden Ring and Runes, but here the crate always stays, if you die again.
Or you can just change it in the options now, to not drop anything
This use to be a AGS thing but They moved it to the regular option menu.

Damn, 500 screws??

There are some general options about keeping inventory after death.
There is also passive mode so you don't have to run away from a pack of bad guys.
Start a new world when you are done in the options menu and you are fine.

It's fine they should go to effect even if you change them while ingame.

I just am not 100% sure that's the case if it's a multiplayer server.

Yeah you don't need to start a new world, you can change it on the fly, while in game.
Also they are Player based, not server based.

You can have it set Passive, no crate drop, but your friend have it set for the defaults

I could not get to my death crate as it was in that ravine with spiders (stingerrs?). I restarted from a autosave prior death but that did not bring back inventory content. Yes I'm new.... so what? The tutorial I went thru says nothing about risk of loosing your production if dying.
I did since go to options to set animals on "passive" and "keep all".
And now back to the boring ding ding ding ding ding.... Not sure I will enjoy this much.

Added info: I don't play multiplayer.

Did you find the options to keep inventory and the option for creature hostility?

Are you... crafting everything by hand? That's gotta be tedious. You should have at least automated plate, rod, screw and cable production by the end of the tutorial (on-boarding).

Reloaded a save before my death but inventory still gone. That one didn't make much sense. Chat bot training itself perhaps ?
