Cooler?
It makes no sense that refined ores from the Smelter are immediately cool enough to be worked into wiring. Hence, I propose the Cooler! It snaps onto your conveyor belt, and cools your hot ingots down to room temperature.

I can see this working in a game like Factorio, but the issue is that it adds another step AND mechanic to the process.
Are we able to do things with Hot/Fresh ingots that we couldn't do before with constructors?
New parts, mechanics, etc?
Or is it just another addition to get closer for realism's sake?

Ultimately, does it add another step that detracts from the fun or adds onto it?

Might wanna check out Satisfactory Plus! Mod… I call it Tedium Plus…
If they don’t already have this you can suggest it to the mod makers… sounds like you might enjoy the mod…
I for one don’t want this in the actual game… but a mod is fine.

It'd probably be pretty cheap to build

This game isn't realistic. Neither is the way you make ingots.
Just accept it.
Since the ore is pretty much instant heated, they might use a similar process for instant cooling. Maybe in combination with the then quite widespread process of cold smelting.

Assume that the smelter has an inbuilt cooler, and recycles the heat back into the smelting process, after all fixit does not waste (heat).
Otherwise the smelter should probably be one of the most energy hungry machines in the game, right?

Otherwise you might look at the additional milestones mod - it does add the cooler as a seperate machine.

BLAndrew runs his belts through water to cool them and then routes through the massage 2abb outside air to dry them.
You don't need alternates recipes for wet concrete.

Building a constructor with just 8 spools of cable and 2 reinforced plates. Now that's realism.
There are already cooling agents using quantum methods inside the machines to cool the products. Notice they aren't red hot.

Also, we definitely need mechanisms about dealing with the waste products coming off of ore. There'd be a LOAD of rock in there. It simply isn't realistic for ore to just turn into bars with no run-off.

And when you look at it, the bars that come out the other end actually have greater volume than the ore that goes in! That's also not very realistic. Honestly, I do question the precise, scientific accuracy of this game sometimes.

Not entirely sure if this was meant ironic (hah) but it is not the goal of the game to be realistic.

Again Satisfactory Plus is right up your alley.
Gotta love folks who criticize a fictional game for not being real enough.

Don't get me started on screws with no threads. Or where those plastic bins come from! <yells> :P

I mean... induction coil smelting is a thing... sooooo you can! :D

also, by OP's logic and desires, we'd never get off the ground because we wouldn't be able to make ingots manually at the work bench. So theres that too :D
