Keeping track of recovered crash sites
I haven't found a good way of doing this. I have been placing a beacon at each site which I have recovered the HD. Now my map view is covered with useless beacon markers and it's annoying.

It would be nice if after HD recovery, you could dismantle the crash site and have it be cleaned up and removed from the world entirely. Then three weeks later when you are out exploring, you're not like "oh there is a crash site over there, did I get that one yet? I don't remember."

I thought about printing out a map and just crossing them off but I like finding them naturally while playing. I don't want to know where they are.

Is there anyway to access a coordinate system in game?

Agreed, could be way better to just sweep them.

But try this, look forward to unlocking the map on the M.A.M, then put beacons on the ones you found, and then set the crash pods beacons you placed to do not show on you compass via the map menu, so if you ever find an crash pod, just check the map and see if there is a beacon nearby it, you will know if its taken

Oh thank god there IS a map in the future as I upgrade?... I was getting seriously worried.

should be able to dismantle them after you take the hard drive

Yep. And if you're interested in mods, there's a minimap mod that includes coordinates at the bottom of the window.

you can use this site:

https://satisfactory-calculator.com/en/interactive-map#3;50395;84616|gameLayer|;hardDrives

To load your save ( top left of the screen ).
It will show you the crash sites and has a distinction between the ones you've opened and which are still accessible.

It kinda sucks being stuck with an external game tool to solve problems in game.
Currently, the only way to mark a barren site is to mark it yourself. The scan tool will find all crash sites, full and empty alike.

If you'd like to suggest a change, post about it here:

Just bury the sites in concrete :).

After I get the hard drive I just build a lookout tower next to the wreck and paint the tower bright pink. It marks the site as complete and makes it easily seen from a distance. But I agree it would be nice to remove the wreck and salvage it in a better way. It would also be great if the object scanner no longer detected wrecks you have gotten the hard drive from or gave you a readout on the scanner that said 'Recovered.'

You could mark the sites with beacons when you find them and then remove the beacon when you have recovered the hard drive, or perhaps color code them as to which ones had already had their hard drives removed, i.e. red and green.
If there were no beacon as you approached the crash site then you would know that it was a new one undiscovered yet, so if you want to use this tactic then don't remove the beacons, just change the color when you've recovered the hard drive from them.

This is how I do it. Red means found but not recovered, named for what it needs. Green means found. Also set their view distances in the map to Near for those that are Green, and Far for those that are Red.

I use red for all of them, but my description says what they need to open if I haven't.
It's not like I'd be wandering around in the wilderness and just happen to go past one I haven't opened... if I wasn't already going to it with the items I need, so I don't bother changing the colour.

As for the compass, I remove them (I'm sure Off was an option wasn't it?). To find crash sites I'll be using the scanner. I can very quickly check the map to make sure there's nothing in the direction I'm looking if I wasn't sure.

I hunt them down as I need a given alternate recipe, rather than waiting until I'm "finished", so I find some that require items I don't have yet. Hence, I can't just go back and get what I need for one pod that needs a tier 7 item when I'm on tier 5. If I'm close enough to open it, I'm close enough to change the color.

Setting them to Near means they only show up on your compass when you're within a few hundred feet or so. Setting them to Far means you can see them from across the map, in case you forgot about them by the time you unlock what they need.

I'd really like the ability to delete them as well. Being unable to clean them up turns those spots into instant no-use sections, unless they luck out and come in under the foundation. Currently, my favorite build site is over a large canyon and near the ocean, so there's no crash site interfering with me now.

As for finding out if I did one, I just put up a tower of about 5-6 4m foundation blocks. It's visible for a long ways off, so I can tell I did it. Making a lookout tower may be a much better option, I forgot about that building.

I also use the map on that one site to track my drives. (actually, this time around I gifted myself 50 hard drives in this new game because I am so SICK of spending hours wandering the map for these drives).

One looted I just place a power pole in the middle of the wreckage. If I some across a site with a pole sitting in the middle, I know I've already looted it. I do beacon those I have not looted though.
