games aren't allowed to have peaceful mode unless they're minecraft?
No it isnt, this game is beautifull. The only thing I think minecraft has an advantage in is the rep,ay value from randomeness. Once you have explored a beautifull map a couple of times over the joy of exploration ki d of goes away and you no longer have any need to go anywhere except to where you already know specific resources are and to gather some hard drives. I hope 1.0 brings some kind of game mode that makes one playthrough different from the next.
I thought it already was in "peaceful mode" just a few easily defeated resource node guardians and maybe a few little aggressive spiders. It's a lot more peaceful than Skyrim is anyway, my other most favorite game in the world to play.
"You call that a knife, that's not a knife, this is a knife."
"Always forgive your enemies, nothing annoys them so much."
"Some times I got to run away, I got get away from the pain you drive into me...."
Just because they are very territorial; doesn't mean that they are dangerous, I mean they don't look like they want to eat your or anything, just to get away from my piece of this planet and go build your silly factory someplace else, or i'll make you wish you did, sort of attitude. Peaceful is relative. Happy Pioneering!
That's the thing, creating dry biomass or medicine from aliens is a far better option than any other alternatives. Bacon Agaric f.ex. is pretty limited, especially in the Desert, and you'll loose 1 hand slot and 6 inventory slots.
But I'm pretty sure they'll find a way to compensate for this... either by removing the tree altogether and give the player something in return, or just make it fully researched from the start in the "peaceful/creative" mode.
But I have to admit that I also thought I am playing on a quite peaceful setting and that there is more ;D
(for example beside this "Piece of Cake", a "Let's Rock" or "Come Get Some" setting %3)
Still, the enemies can be very nasty, especially if you fell from an edge and get surprised %D
Luckily we have explosives and the trusty rebar pistol =3
There is a rumor going around that some pioneers kill peaceful mobs, i.e. the walking land Whales (Mr Bean?), almost flightless birds, that noisy flying manta ray in the sky, just to get their innards, or because they are cruel to animals in real life or something, I accidentally killed a doogo one time, defending us from a group of fire flies and three flame cats, he was there smiling, tongue hanging out and panting making cute little doogo sounds, standing in the wrong place at the wrong time, and I whacked him with a xeno basher when I missed one of the flame cats, he died instantly at least it was a quick and painless death I hope, I couldn't play for about two hours, held a memorial for my faithful companion to ease the pain of his loss.
So, I guess you could still get the necessary materials for the MAM that way, becoming a homicidal maniac sociopath zealot.
